Why don't purebreeds lick?

If you really want a dog to lick you you can come to my house. I can't get mine to stop licking anything!
Some dogs just don't show affection in that way and you should be glad. There are people who pay trainers lots of money to stop this behavior.

I have an over obsessed dog that loves to lick, so this works for her but i don't know if it will work for you....O.k, what i do is i lay on the floor or couch and make kiss noises and call the dogs name until they come. Have the dog jump on you and lick your face. I don't recommend this because E coli and MSRA are going around , so i wouldn't let her lick you!

That is gross!!! Even if there supposely have cleaner mouths than humans. You ever see what a dog eats? Good luck with the whole dog licking u thing. EWWWW.

dry food: stick you finger in the food, rool it around, the smell it , if you can, rub it where you want them 2 lick....stick their noses there.
Wet: same, but wipe off. leave the smell
also, if they like you, they will lick you.
scratch behind the ears when they are sleeping, or when they are itching, put your hand there so their paw is hitting you, and scrstch. dogs love when you scratch an itch 4 them.

my dog licks every1... it depends...
1) smell nice
2) have a food smell on your hand [[just make sure the dog isn't hungry]]
3) treat the dog with respect
4) scratch it behind it's ears
5) have patience
6) give the dog food
somethig that has to do with food... lol
just be nice to it, and when it's ready, it will lick you.....

believe it or not that like you being rough because it gets them excited. heavily pet the dogs back back and forth. it will only lick hands if it is in a certain mood.

be nice to the dog and it'll try to lick you naturally.
licking for dogs is their way of kissing so just play with the puppy and it'll try to show appriciation by licking you.

You shouldn't want your dog to lick you. It is poor behavior, and not very showy. Like what pure breeds are meant for.

You show them respect and then they learn to like ou and play
with them. The licking will come natural. They are full of love and want to share it with ya.

Why would you want them to? If you're serious, the best way I've found to instill affection and thereby to get them to lick you(if that's really what you want!!!), is to rub their underside, their bellies and under their chin.
