Your mom is legally entitled to take any and all money you earn/receive until you are 18. THe only moms that are legitimately supposed to take your money like that are moms who are poor (then it is okay and you should be honored to help out with family expenses because it is expensive to raise children) and moms who are stopping their kids from using the money for illegal/unapproved activities (for example a mom who has a kid who earns money and uses that money to buy drugs). Otherwise, your mom shouldn't be taking your money and is just being selfish. HOWEVER, it is still legal for her to do so.

Well try opening a savings account and don't give her the account number. Talk to her and tell her how much she owes you and how you feel when she takes your hard earned money.
I am in a kind of similar situation. I have a single mom and she doens'y always have money for things like rent, bills, dinner andsuch. I have lent her $500 (maybe more) over the years and I have never asked for it back. We both know that she owes me, but she has done so much that I know I'll get it some day.
Your situation sounds a bit different which is why I suggested the bank account. Good luck with all of this.
Also to FROGBFOUND- my mother has had to borrow money from me and my sister to support me, my sister and my two little brothers. It DOES NOT MAKE HER ANY LESS OF A MOTHER. She does what she has to to provide for us. Not everyone has tons of money coming in and the assitance that we get is not really all that helpful! She makes less than $20,000 a month and we really can't afford for her to not ask for money that was just SITTING in the bank doing nothing. She is one of the best mothers out there and you CANNOT tell me that because she supports us by any means that she is less of a mother.

That is wrong and I'm so sorry she is doing that to you. Get a bank account put it in the bank and then use a debit card when you need it. You can get a bank account without an adult I believe. At least I did when I was 14 or so, you just need identification. Maybe it has all changed now. But check into it!

tell your mom to start babysitting and get her own money... it's not like your making thousands of dollars just to give away... I never had that kind of parent anyway, both my parents let me keep what I make and once in a while when theres extra I treat them to some ice-cream or just something I can afford..but never give it all away..

DON"T let your mom have access to a bank account if you do get one. If you need an adult on the account, ask your Grandparents. I wish I could help because my mom did the same thing when I was young. I don't think lying to your mom is the right thing to do. Talk to your grandparents and see if they can help.

Keep giving it to your grandma to hold. You may eventually have to get a small safe with a lock. Make sure she never finds out the combination.
Also, tell your mother that she needs to work!!!! It sounds like she's lazy and is misusing her parental authority with you!!!

If you don't owe her money she shouldn't be stealing it from you. As soon as you get your money get it straight in the bank, she can't touch it that way and its better for you to see your money grow with interest.

your mom can't take your money if she doesn't know you have it. legally she probably can, the grandma idea sounds like a really good idea. you probably cannot stop this, so find another solution
