"Minimal Brain Dysfunction" is an old fashioned term doctors used for ADHD or learning disorders.

"Static Encephalopathy" is the preferred term now. It just means that the brain is assumed to be slightly "damaged" when someone has ADHD, mild PDD, or Learning Disorders.

Static Encephalopathy of a more severe type would apply to mental retardation, Autistic DIsorder or Cerebral Palsy.

Encephalopathy can also apply to a structural abnormality of the brain that someone was born with.

depending on what kind of Dr u are seeing, really there is not much difference.here are some links for u to check out they will lead u to other links that might better suit your needs. if your child has been diagnosed this by an early development intervention group or by a mental health provider only please talk with you pediatrician. And get them properly evaluated, even with a neurologist that deals with spectrum disorders. do plenty of research. Google is good for it. It pays off in the end when u are well informed and can't be pushed around
