i dont know cuz french english and spanish are all languages of the americas.
when i refer to america, im referring to north and south america
but yeah when i was in spain somebody asked me that and i just said no. i didnt want to answer someone that ignorant

Well, I would agree with them to say "American" instead of English. English is really the language that comes from England. If you speak the language of English but you live in America, you speak American. But, English and American (north american) are so similar, they are basically the same language. That is why Americans speak English, not American.

No, but it kind of makes sense because there are so many differences between British English and American English. I usually specify American English.
