1) It is the Will of God, if what you are doing is Glorifying Him.
2) He will open the door for you. Rev. says," He opens doors that no one can shut, and He shuts doors that no one can open."
3) He uses our trials to make us better Christians. Nowhere in the Bible does it say being a Christian is easy, but it does say that when life gets hard, He will be there for you.
4) Go on a mission trip. I did and I could really feel, both spiritually and physically, God at work. I was a little hesitant at first because we were going to Mexico and I don't speak any Spanish, but He provided for my needs, and I met some people who are now some of the best friends I have ever had. It is a life changing experience.

Hi Michael,
We WILL go through trials and suffer for Christ. Here are some Scripture references, which you probably already know...
Acts 5:41, 9:16 Romans 8:17 1 Cor. 4:12
2 Cor. 1:6 Philippians 1:29
1 Pe.3:14 and 4:16
Eph. 1:12 says we are to be the praise of His glory. If you recognize God's glory and do everything with Him in mind, pleasing and obedient to the Word of God, then He will lead you as to what you are to do.
Ask Him if Y&A is what He wants you to do. His sheep know His voice. Spend quiet time with Him and in His Word. He also might speak through your church leaders or another Christian.
If your heart is pleasing before Him, and your eyes and ears are open to Him, He will guide you.
We can spread the Word in many ways...not just necessarily "going" to a mission field, etc. If your life is full of Christ, then your conversation will normally end up on Him, or you'll at least mention Him in many cases.
Your mission field might be the Internet. It might be your neighborhood or a local eatery.
God bless you, brother, as you strive to serve Him!

You pray. You ask others to pray.
You see how God has used you in the past.
You pay attention to the things you did which were well received and what was not.
For every person who is asks rude question on here and gives rude answers there are 100 people reading and watching and see how you and I react.
Then those who never ask a question and never make a reply respond to the Lord while you and I never know its happening and we won't know til we meet over on the other shore.
Eventually God will confirm to you one way or the other what you are supposed to do and where.

There are two keys for knowing God's will for a given situation (1) Make sure what you are asking for or considering doing is not something the Bible forbids. (2) Make sure what you are asking for or are considering doing will glorify God and help you grow spiritually. If these two things are true and God still is not giving you what you are asking – then it is likely not God’s will for you to have what you are asking for. Or, perhaps you just need to wait a while longer for it. Knowing God’s will is sometimes difficult. People want God to basically tell them what to do – where to work, where to live, who to marry, etc. Romans 12:2 tells us, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will."
God rarely gives people that direct and specific of information. God allows us to make choices regarding those things. The only decision God does not want us to make is the decision to sin or resist His will. God wants us to make choices that are in agreement with His will. So, how do you know what God’s will is for you? If you are walking closely with the Lord and truly desiring His will for your life – God will place His desires on your heart. The key is wanting God’s will, not your own. “Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). If the Bible does not speak against it, and it can genuinely benefit you spiritually - then the Bible gives you the "permission" to make decisions and to follow your heart.

In the whole universe there is only One Who is forever NEW. Amazingly brother Michael, this New One indwells us.
We all now how very quickly it is for us to become " old" in our minds, in our thoughts, in our love for the Lord, in our desire for the things related to God.
Over the years I have truly appreciated that knowing the will of God is not something that we need someone to " speak into " our lives to be aware of.
We are, each of us, branches in the Vine. IN order to know the will of God we need to consider this verse.
Romans 12:2
And do not be fashioned according to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, that you may PROVE what the Will of God is, that which is good and well pleasing and perfect.
As long as we are those that are loving this age and this world brother, we will be those to whom God cannot reveal His will. Not that He does not want us to know His will, but our receiving faculty is old. This mind of ours needs to be renewed of all the oldness all the deadness, of all the " dust" of this world that it easily and readily collects by simply watching TV or being on the internet or listening to a conversation that is ungodly or just idle, we know, we've both been believers for many years to know the ways that we can become old.
So there is such a need for us to first present ourselves to the Lord, our bodies. Then we need to have our mind nenewed by setting the mind on the spirit
( Romans8:6- " the mind set on the spirit is life and peace")
Only our spirit, where the Spirit of God dwells is the part of our being that is capable and has the means to KNOW everything concerning God and what He desires for us.
So having that time in the Word of God... having our minds washed in the water there from all the pollution of this world and age's trends and fashions, and feeding in a healthy way in the word is one of the most prevailing ways for us to set our mind on the spirit.
Once we do this brother Michael, we put ourselves in a place and position for God to speak to us. The More of the word we take in gives the Lord a richer vocabulary to speak back to us concering all that He desires.
May we be so given in our presenting of ourselves brother. THe will of God is not meant to be a mystery to us. We are, after all, branches in the Vine. WHen we abide and have such an abiding kind of life and living, we can even ask whatever we will and God will grant it.. but we cannot miss the crucial steps of abiding and renewing of our minds.
The transformed mind brings about more growth and even us being conformed to the image of Christ.

I was just reading an email devotional that spoke to your primary question. Knowing God's will comes from a close, surrendered walk with Him. To know God's will must come from a complete willingness to be used by Him. We must learn to separate that from our wants and desires.
It is not possible to be shielded from all tribulations and hard times. Those are promised to us. Check James 1 for just one example. They are intended to make us draw closer to Him.
You can be used by God anywhere, especially where you are now. I believe that God uses my words here in YA to spread His love and truth.
If God wants you to be a missionary to some faraway place, He will make that clear to you. Until that time or instead, just be a mirror of His love and truth where you are.

If you believe in the principles that Jesus proposed, you follow to the best of your ability. You can't KNOW that you will be able to take your next breath. Live "as if" and make the dreams reality. As for atheists, who says intellectually lazy people should be reserved for TV watching. Despite their run-on mouth to the contrary, they know that there are things in this world that defy explanation by natural science.

How do you know what anyone's will is, you read their last will and TESTAMENT. God revealed His power to us through nature (Rom 1:20) then He revealed His purpose through His divine word. and finally He revealed His person through His son, Jesus Christ. I have doubt and questions all the time but I receive reassurance as I study God's word, the bible Check out 1 John 5: 13-15 and John 20:31. John wrote his gospel and his epistles so we may know. May God Bless you in your journey. We are promised that those who seek...find!
