I have xtras in my bottle for dentist visits, but they are almost two years old, ...lol can I still take them before a dentist visit?

Throw them out... they do have an expiration date on them, so they should have been gone long ago.

Get a fresh prescription with refills, if needed... they'll cover you for one year.

Better safe than sorry~

Are you taking them for heart valve protection?

Off the shelf drugs are usually good for several years. They can get weak though, and (very few) toxic. Furthermore, the rate of decay slows down, so they will usually be 80-90% of labeled strength for many years. The dentist did not calculate a magic specific dose for you... its more like "shotgun" therapy.

There is a small chance you would have a subtherapeutic dose.. . BUT...they are cheap enough to replace with new pills.

Its your choice.

I am not sure why you need to antibiotics before a dental visit except if you have an artificial heart valve. Ask the dentist if you require them whilst you are there. ps check expiry date.
