many people believe in god because they believe the universe is too fine tuned to have been made randomly, and they think a higher intelligence must have been involved. Those who don't believe in god often say so because of all the evil in the world. However, others(including me), say that evil and hardship is just a part of life, and god is not just some angel that makes things right when you are in trouble. As for your question, it is a little hard to understand, but if you mean why DO we pretend that god exists, there are many reasons why people believe. After all, we are limited to what are senses tell us. We have no way of knowing what is beyond the cosmos. But, like all of us, you are a small part of the universe. So ask yourself this question.

Who are you to question the presence of god?

I want you to really think about this question. You are just a tiny piece of the universe, so you, nor do I, have a clue what is out there. We really have no way of knowing. So, god is usually just the easiest and simplest explanation, however, we really dont know that much about the universe.

Yet another half-arsed attempt at Pascal's Wager ... and it is way too early here for a drinking question.

Don't forget, Pascal also said: "Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction."

Maturity has that affect that pretending has to be outgrown. Do you play with dolls or teddy bears?

because then we would be very bored worshipping something that isnt real and it would be a humungous waste of time. *mumbling* worshipping a giant guy in the sky wearing sandals and a white dress. what next!

You might pretend but I don't.

I don't have to pretend because for me, Jesus IS here.
