I have yet to meet an american or legal immigrant who agrees with the above statement.

"This mantra is mercilessly bandied about by illegal immigration supporters and echoes throughout the halls of Congress and the White House whenever the topic comes up. What is never mentioned, however, is that the illegal aliens are artificially depressing compensation and that illegal aliens are the only ones who will do the work at such low wages. In actual fact, illegal immigration distorts the law of supply and demand in a capitalistic society. Additionally it is grossly hypocritical to want to raise the minimum wage on one hand while the other hand winks at illegal aliens working at far below prevailing wages."

Just a made up slogan. If you look at the statistics, more illegals are doing factory work, construction and other jobs than than the small number picking fruit and veggies.

The sad fact is that we've become far too dependent on illegal labor to put food on our tables. So, unfortunately, this assertion is half-true.

I said half, because when we get rid of the illegals, you don't honestly think Americans are just going to let themselves starve, do you? It may take a month or two, and wages will definitely have to be raised, but once the farmers learn that they can't abuse their new workers, food production will be back to stuff in no time.

They may be doing those menial jobs now, but once they , or their children get an American education they won't be doing those jobs- the new wave of illegals will.
The argument that their doing jobs Americans won't is 90% bull anyway. When I was a kid, I had my first paper route at 8!
(handed down from my brother) now newspaper people are adults delivering in cars. Kids should be able to have jobs if they want them. I'm sure kids could sell strawberries on the corner. Or mow lawns, or wash dishes, or learn to do housework, older kids could even be in the fields!
Mexicans have an agenda. And that is to capture the American dream. They just need to wait their turn to come here legally and in the mean time, deport the illegal ones.

Any politician that does not uphold the Constitution should be subject to criminal charges. This includes half of the dummies in Congress and Senate. Obama has abused the Constitution and needs to be held accountable. Watch Fox this Sunday and they'll exposed his agendas. 8 Central and 9 Eastern. I hope they expose enough dirt on him that he'll run across to the Mexican border.

No, and in fact I never did believe it. I do believe they drove the wages down on certain jobs by working for less than minimum wage.

I still see contractors having hand work to be done where they can't get the back hoe in go to various corners and bring back loads of Mexicans and supply them with picks, shovels, and substandard wages.

You will always have the element that argues "They are doing the jobs no one else will do" and "They are just trying to raise their standard of living." First argument has been answered quite well. As to the second, if they are coming here to get out of the way things are in Mexico, why do they bring it with? Ever been in a neighborhood with a large concentration of Mexicans? You might as well be in Mexico.

Of course I dont believe that. Before we were infested and invaded, our crops got picked, our lawns mowed, our buildings cleaned. Somehow it all happened. Americans did it, legal immigrants did it, teenagers did it.

And it can be again. Without the glut of the low skilled/low educated illegal alien workforce that works under the table for less than minimum wage (and without employer paid employment taxes), the surplus of labor will reduce, the wages will rise and our most vulnerable and disadvantaged americans can get back to work.

It is the totally false mantra of the illegals! I often wonder how stupid the government thinks the average American truly is? They want their oil so badly that our government will sacrifce a lot of Americans to get it! But we the people will not allow that to become a reality. At last the silent majority has taken notice of the ridiculousness of our current politicians! Rich men with a personal agenda to become richer men.

Anyone with a basic understanding of supply & demand knows how ridiculous the whole "jobs Americans won't do" clap-trap is.

It wasn't that long ago that Americans WERE doing those jobs.

It's sad how many people buy into that spoon-fed globalist lie.

I laugh at that statement all the time, its bullshit, one good example is the chicken processing plant in Colorado.they busted all those illegals and the very next day US citizens were standing in line to get their jobs.I know Others answered you better on your question but I found it refreshingly truthful, factual and I will give you a star,I'd also like to add you to my contacts.Keep up the good work.
