There's a distinct lack of being nailed to anything either, if you want to be /that/ literal. I think they mean 'follow his teachings'.
And incidentally, I don't think the Bible says anywhere whether Jesus had sex or not. It could have happened between chapters.

First of all, nobody can live their life exactly like Jesus, He was perfect in all ways and in no way can we even come close to who or what Jesus was.
Those who are in Christ however, who are followers of the Lord, have a choice to marry and have children, yet still serve the Lord in their lives as Husbands and Wives, Fathers and Mothers or they can stay single and serve the Lord. Fornicators and Adulterers and practicing Homosexuals on the other hand are in fact, not serving the Lord but serving their own flesh and should rid them selves of that sin before they can call themselves servants or followers of Christ.
BTW, I don`t know how people can even entertain the idea that Jesus was married and had kids or that he was a homosexual or had sex at all. Jesus did not come to this earth to be gratified by earthly pleasures, He withstood every temptation and expects us to do the same. Futhermore, His parents knew he was the Son of God and a sacrifice for the sin of mankind. Knowing that, they did not set him up to be given in marriage at any point of His life. Good grief!

What is the thought of your question?
It does not make sense to me.
From what I can discern is that Jesus came from Heaven and lived his life as a perfect human.
He provided the ransom sacrifice needed replacing Adam as a perfect human to do all what Jehovah commended of him.
Jesus came to earth to do His Father's will. Jesus did not come to earth to have relations with a woman. He never married to be in a position to have relations with a woman, This is the standard that I live by today.

To try to live like Jesus means to banish sin from our lives (fortunately, when we fail, we have Jesus as an advocate, though sincerity is a must), to be a servant of God, etc. I know you know you're being overly literal. It doesn't mean we all have to be carpenters, all be born in Bethlehem, all be crucified, etc. Come on!
P.S. God designed sex, but means it to belong inside of marriage. Unlike some people, I do not believe that Jesus was married and it was simply omitted from the Bible. He came here with a purpose, and knew he was going to die for mens' sins (at 33), not to start a family.

I think when people try to be like Jesus, they do so in order to better their relationship with God and to learn to be more faithful and less selfish. People don't mean to be like Jesus in every single way, it would be impossible because he is sinless. Sex isn't a bad thing. Its actually holy, but the world has twisted it and made it immoral. Sex is meant to be between a man and his wife, but kids younger than 13 are getting pregnant. I don't believe Jesus had sex because if he did it would have been with his wife, and he didn't have a wife.

No Jesus never had sex. We are his creation, we are humans. God made marriage, Jesus is the Son. Believers can have sex, in the Bible it is better to be married than to live in sin. Not all people have sex, some stay virgins. You can still be Christ like, by serving and obeying him. You are stuck just on the sex aspect. I really don't get your question, sorry.

Because St. Peter had a wife?
Because (Saint) Martin Luther had a wife?
Because many of the Apostles had wives?
Because Jesus's father, God Almighty, in the Old Testament said go forth and multiply?
Because most of the Christian TV evangelists have women as wives and children too?

It is foolish way of living. See the Catholic priests who declare that they will never marry but some of them fail to keep their promise and molest children because their prohibiting themselves to get married and never have sex is unnatural because God didn't make them with out desire of having sex.

they claim to but they are not! that is the fact. to live their life llike jesus one should lead a life of poverty, chastity and brotherood. if not,, they are just claimng to but they are not!!! if they are trying to be like jesus but not in every ways, then they can but if they are trying to become jesus in every ways, they cant. who says we cant be like jesus? does the bible say so? we are all children of God just like jesus is. it is only that we are not that keen about god and the relationship with. jesus went throught the three stages of spirituality and if we succeed in that, we can be like jesus!
there is no proof that jesus did have sex and there is not proof that jesus did. religion and spirityality is all about believing and having faith. all thse questions will be answered when one has spiritual progresson. it happens when one leven the worldly desires aside and follow god.

If one is married its okay to have sex. other than that, sex is a sin. so, if people are single, and having sex and proclaiming to live like Jesus they are guilty of the sin of adultery and being a lier. another one of satans tricks to fool you.
Jesus never sinned. and, he was not married.
