The most powerful gun in the world has been the Schwerer Gustav; a German made railway gun that fired an 800mm shell up to 48 kilometers. The shell itself weighted an impressive 4.8 tons and was as big as a tank; the gun required 250 men to operate the gun and the whole contraption had a cost of 7 million Marks. Only two fo these guns were made, named Gustav and Dora.

THe most powerful handgun in the world is the Smith & Wesson .500 S&W revolver, it fires a 300 grain bullet at 2075 feet per second with a an energy coefficient of 2868 foot/pounds of pressure.

I am a gun owner that lives in Oklahoma and Texas. They are regions of the country that it is fairly easy to obtain a gun.

I own a 3 Glock handguns in 9mm. That is a fairly weak round but I like the fact that they are inexpensive.

I used to have a much larger collection. The most powerful gun I owned was a 500 Nitro riffle; I had the idea that I was going to go to Africa and hunt Cape Buffalo's. The time and money never appeared so I sold it. Think elephant gun.

Now the most powerful beast I own is an AR 15; it is a civilian version of what the US Army carries, it is kind of wimpy by Texas standards but I like it.

I am in negotiations to buy a legal machine gun. They are expensive and hard to get but they are legal. It is frivolous but I want one.

No, I don't own a gun, but I have shot many, including the M9 Beretta and the M16. My favorite is my father's 1853 Navy Colt.

The most powerful gun I have ever seen fired was the 16inch/50's on USS Missouri and USS New Jersey.

A gun by definition is an artillery piece so the most powerful ones in use now would be the 205mm self propelled howitzer or the 16 inch guns on a battleship.
