If you're considering Air Force and have a degree I assume you're thinking about becoming an officer- what is your degree in? The Air Force is a HIGHLY COMPETITIVE branch. If your degree isn't in a math, science, or technical field (such as finance, accounting, economics, etc..) look into another branch. Our AF recruiter wasn't well informed about Air Force needs- Another thing to consider is your GPA-if you studied a liberal art you'll need a 3.5+ to be considered competitive. If you have a degree in something technical maybe a little less. My husband has a B.S. in Sound Engineering with a 3.5 GPA he went through two commissioning boards for the Air Force - he's now an officer in Navy. Our actual recruiter was even applying for a commission- he has been in the AF for 6 years, earned a B.S. degree- he was rejected. Like I said, competitive. Lastly, if you're afraid of getting deployed or just don't want to- DO NOT JOIN THE MILITARY. Your MOS will determine whether or not you're deployed in the AF. There's no way to know, but it is likely. And I read someone told you that the AF and other branches would cover college loans... That's an ENLISTED incentive. Officer candidates are not eligible to receive CLRP (college loan Repayment) If you want to enlist, disregard everything I've told you (except about deployment). The AF is a great branch for women, I know several enlisted AF personnel and they are very happy.

No, 25 years old is not too old to be joining the British Army. During WW2 men up to age 42 were conscripted into the British Army. The average age of a WW2 soldier in both the British and US Armies was about 40.
I joined the British Army in 1957 at the age of 15. It was a totally different world - no war, just the threat of it.

No 25 aint to old. I spent 10 yrs active was out a few and went back in the reserves at 36 and when i did my mock physical fitness test i came in 3rd out of 30 people and most were under your age. If you want it go for it your age should give u an advantage since your more mature than the kids going in. Good Luck

I joined a month before my 23d birthday. It has been the best thing I could have done for myself. When you join a little bit older, you are more mature and that works to your advantage. The leaders recognize this and you have a better chance of faster promotions. Also, when I was on recruiting duty, I enlisted people up to 32 years old. They also did very well and didn't regret it. If that is what you want to do, then go for it.

Go ahead and join. I'm 25 and just joined in October. In fact it may be a better thing. I talk to my recruiters all the time and see the "young pups" talking to them. I seem to have a lot better understanding because i'm older.
Join, i'll see you at Basic training!

No. I've known 35 year olds who join the Army. You just have to retire by 55.

the army is desperate...you can join even at 42 yrs old. while i applaud the men serving our country...respect them wholly...i don't recommend it. the benefits are not as great as they make it out to be. the government does not take such good of care of the enlisted as they should. my son inquired about joining the marines, when he did not sign up on the spot, the recruiters were relentless in the phone calls and derogatory comments made about his decision and manhood. Thankfully, he did not fall victim to their tactics. as American citizen's we were dis-heartened by their actions. Join if you want to, we will support you and your efforts and be thankful for it. God Bless.
