Since I've had surgery and have been unable to run, walking has become my cardio along with the eliptical machine. Let me tell you what I have done to loose weight and tone up muscle: this is the quick way
1. lower your caloric intake 1300 to 1600
2. 20 to 30 minutes on the Eliptical Machine
3. do at least 15 minutes of abs on alternate days but I work out 30 minutes or more on abs
4. on days in between I do legs and arms 30 minutes or more
5. do 30 to 45 minutes on the tredmil on at least 4 elavation and go no slower than 3.2 in speed
If you want buy one of those sauna suits.
This will work, I am a living testiment. You just have to be dillegent on what you eat and work out on this schedule. If you don't want to or can't do 30 minutes, you have to do at least 20.
Also if you have one of those balls, lay flat on your back and put the ball between your feet and knees. Put your hands under your bottom and move your legs up and down without touching the ground with your feet...oh my goodness!! Hurts so bad, but worth the benifits. Don't forget to drink water an intake fiber, you can buy the fiber you add it to your bevrages. No SODA

Yes, walking is very effective, and inexpensive and you can do it anywhere. To lose weight, you will probably have to build up to walking 60 minutes a day, five days a week. You burn about 100 calories a mile. You can do it in multiple sessions, so you can walk half an hour twice a day, if an hour is too long for you.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

It sure is. The basic principle of weight loss is calories taken in should be less than calories spent. As walking increases the amount of calories spent (as long as you don't increase your caloric intake) you walking will help you lose weight.
Good work ! Just 30 minutes 3 times a week is a great start, if you can manage a bit more , better still.
Well done.

Yes, it is. I lost over 80 pounds by walking. I began just by walking to tolerance, which at that point was maybe a half a block, lol. Within six weeks I was walking about three miles a day. It worked.
I would recommend also lifting weights (which I didn't do, but am now, much later) as this will tone your muscles.

A brisk walk will lose more weight than watching an episode of Ugly Betty season 2.
