I believe it was this same 44% that elected our president, no? I mean, that was the vote they marketed for. If these people believed more in themselves and their communities, he wouldn't have been elected and our country wouldn't be in the sad state it's in. To start with. The whole "washing away our sins" in action right in front of us - and for what? The only way "sins" are washed away is by massive change and being proactive with solutions.

no person alive today will see Jesus come back and the advent back became into assume to be by employing the Bible till now all of you in this room have exceeded and the individuals in that room died almost 2000 years in the past. So if we take that reference he has already back. looks to me that we are informed an incredible variety of distinctive thoughts approximately how he will come back murdering those that dont believe and taking some up in rapture that we get the heavens gate cult with the suicide pacts. lots of the christian faith is ill, twisted and downright inhumane and that i be attentive to greater approximately it than the different faith, yet I do think of the others are bent on ideas administration besides. Dont assume Jesus returning..

It says that 44% of Americans believe in a primitive dominionist Middle Eastern creed that preaches Armageddon and prays to a despotic desert 'god'.
So of course many of them will not be worried about the Earth, or our children's future.
"Environmentalists' energy plan is the repudiation of America and Christian destiny, which is Jet Skis, steak on the electric grill, hot showers, and night skiing."
"God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, 'Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours.'"
(Ann Coulter)
You will also find that consumerism is mostly replacing religion in the US, both religionists and atheists can be avid consumers.

I don't quite politically agree with the picture you paint of the country, but for now I'll assume that it's as you say.
I don't think religiousness is the sole or even a major cause of people's self-centeredness and lack of foresight. Even if Jesus doesn't come in the next 50 years, many/most adults will be dead by then, so the state of the world won't be their problem any more.

Well Jesus did say that he would come back when wars were many and people lived decadent and immoral existences. The way I see it, Christians should be pro-war and pro-sin because to say otherwise is to put up a big fat banner on the face of the Earth saying, "Christ, you are not welcome here." Correct me if I am wrong, but that doesn't seem like a very polite way to address your personal Lord and Saviour.

Initially, I thought it shows they have faith, but it is a cynical kind of faith and I see what you mean. They may believe in Jesus, but they certainly don't believe in his message of peacde and love. It is this hypocrisy that makes me despair.
