Matter of preference. Dogs are great fun to train and will always run to see you when you come home. Cats are independent, but this makes them easier to care for and they're cleaner. They are still affectionate as well though.

With the Way the World is today, Everyone needs a Dog for Protection. They are better than any Home Security Alarm and can get to the Perpetrator faster than a Police Car. Not to mention, Most are there to greet you when you come home after working all day. I Live on a lake and Have a Cat that is constantly on the Look out for Rodents and Snakes, which I am terribly afraid of Both, so a Cat sure has its Benefits. I cannot choose between the two. They Both have their Purpose in Life and I Love most Animals..

Depends on your situation.

Dogs are great and loving. But need much attention, walking or room to run. Can get costly in food.

Cats are great and loving as well. But only need about 15 mins of attention per day and their food is pretty cheap.

If you want to leave town or be gone for days, a dog needs a sitter or a place to go. A cat can be left a bowl of food and is fine.

Both live to be around 15 yrs old, both are loyal if loved and both cost pretty much the same at the vet. So it boils down to your life style and place of living.

Cats are cute but some are mean. lol.
Easy to train though. Dogs are a little harder to train.
They make a really good pet though. Cats are better
indoors if you ask me. Dogs outdoors. Just depends on
what you want and like.

if it was up to me... I would get a cat.
Good for being an indoor pet =]
also they are REALLY clean and you don't have to bathe them

Well, I had both as pets and there are downsides and upsides to both. Dogs are slightly less calm and can be jumpy and cats are moody often (mostly in their later years) and cuddly.
I can't say which I personally like better, I jsut don't think I cold choose between my two pets.
