I'm curious as to how widely-spoken English is in Greenland, compared to Danish and, of course, Greenlandic. Some sources say it's widely spoken, while others seem to indicate that Greenlandic (Kalaallisut) and Danish have a far greater number of speakers. Surely the majority of Danes there would know English?

The official languages of Greenland are Greenlandic (Kalaallisut) and Danish, and most of the population speak both of the languages. Greenlandic is spoken by about 50,000 people, some of whom are monolingual. A minority of Danish migrants with no Inuit ancestry speak Danish as their first, or only, language. English is widely spoken as a third language. Many young people who studied in Denmark or abroad can speak English.
