I've been working for about 3 years now and i have very little money to show for it. I've gone through 6 cell phones in 2 years which have cost me hundreds if not thousands of dollars, every time i see a new phone, ipod, video game, computer, anything i just want it. I have no idea what it is. I've gone through a few mp3 players, I've bought 4 game systems and tons of games and I've only been working for 3 years. Can someone please help me?

Make a rule for yourself. Every time you pass a cell phone shop look the other way and think of something else to do. It's just a self control issue. Otherwise you will be so hard up you want even have a cell phone at all

You have to ask yourself, what's the need you're trying to feed? What is it that you imagine will be better if you buy electronics? Is it to impress others? To avoid boredom? What do you imagine will happen if you don't buy these things? Do you imagine feeling emotional pain? On a scale of 1 to 10, how bad will that pain feel? Try keeping a journal where you write about what you feel. You may need help if you can't avoid buying new things: a therapist can help you, but you'll need to seek treatment. It sounds like you might also need meds for obsessive/compulsive behavior or anxiety. You can try reading books on it first. If you don't fight this, it will only get worse, as there will always be new things to buy.

Hey, got an idea, make it a passion and consider working for an electronics shops, starts collectiing and setting up website to sell it, start with e-bay or 2-handdealer.
Change your weakness into your strength.
You could be making money later instead of just spending it now.

hmmm.... this is obessive-compulsive disorder. in this one is obessed about something or becomes compulsive to do something
CURE: 1 most imp accept that you are having trouble(although small) and see a psychiatrist
2. use cross/stop technique: everytime you think say "stop" or put a cross and stop thinking. first you will realise that in small time you had put lots of cross/said stop, but the frequency will decrease
3. deviation: many time it is seen that human mind is unable to stop thinking about something but it is possible to deviate
4. sometimes the compulsive disorder is due to an underlying problem: is this your case, then get the problem solved
REMEMBER almost every problem has solution and those without any--there is no use of thinking of them
5 use yoga meditation etc or other activities
