I have many Great photo books and want to keep them as digital format as original condition. As I heard, "digital camera can not match with Scanner in this field" in 2004. And, what about this time? Still SCanner will overwhelm Digital C
amera?(On with this topic, 'Scanner' means, 'Normal Scanner for home, for personal use. Not for 'Drum Scanner'..

which choice will make better Photo files which are more closeer from the original book source?

Still not going to match.

Just look at the math: Let's say you get a very good consumer digital cam, say, 7 Megapixels. (Pro level is like 10 MP or so).

When you calculate that, 7 Megapixels is roughly 2646 ^ 2.

When you figure a page of 8.5 x 11 at 1200 dpi, a page is 8.5x1200 = 10200 pixels across (at least 5x of the camera).

Even at 600 dpi, 5100 pixels across is still 2x better than the camera.

Would suggest to go got Fuji digitl camera, one thing can be checked is the resolution of The Scanner U R goinf for and the mPixel of the Camera
