I want to know how many 'types' of 'pain' there are . As I see it -

1) First there is the normal pain, where one doesn't want to touch the injured area.
2) Second type of pain is felt when a stiff area is massaged , like some acupressure points. A very good example of this is the fleshy area between your thumb and index finger.
3)Another is the pleasent'ish pain one gets on doing exercise or streching.

I have an annoying pain in the muscles behind my knees and in front of my elbows(basically behind the joints )that are only felt when I am relaxed. and when I have this pain I just want to keep punching the area. Punching does help a little (temporarily).

Can somone explain what sort of pain is this and what other types of pain there are ??
Thanks
Thanks

Pain comes as physical, emotional and psychological, all as extreme as each other. The emotional pain from grief can be as debilitating as being in a car crash. The psychological pain from boredom can be as debilitating as pain from grief. The emotional pain from Divorce, need I say more?
Physical normal pain involves all of the others, emotional [fear] and psychological [do not touch me OUCH!] I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and years ago when the joints would be red hot swollen and painful I could not even allow the sleeve from a long sleeve blouse to touch my elbow. Yet as soon as I saw the Doc, he grabbed it and maneuvered it, while I went OUCH! Therefore the reason why I would not touch it, the fear of pain and the unknown, damage? Yet I 'trusted' my Doc because he is.......... The brain does not feel pain, neurologists operate on the brain with patient wide awake. However the brain 'perceives' pain and we all know perceptions can be deceptive! The pain from exercise, is because our own body releases endorphins or happy hormones which are natural pain killers, hence laughter is the best medicine. The topic of pain is interesting, unexplainable and long, however glad that you have chosen to look at it. Oh yes and one way of dealing with painful areas, give it more pain, thereby building up your own pain threshold. If the Arthritis is 'at' me, well I go for a nice three mile walk! Good Luck.

The sensory nerves pick up pain in the following order.
Tickle, itch, burn and outright pain. The pain received when pressing the web of the thumb and forefinger is a neurological test for a cervical problem. A specific level in the cervical spine.

Would suggest you do a search on pycnogenol and see the benefits for your condition to be found there.
