In my opinion, it was never in doubt that Kevin Rudd and the Labor Party would win government.

The result in Bennelong is still in the balance but it looks like Maxine McKew will be the next Federal member.
The electors may have saved themselves a by-election, because Johnny was retiring soon no matter what the outcome tonight.
