This question is for those of any religion who believe in the survival of the soul after death. We know that memory can be destroyed through physical damage to the brain. We also know that who you are (personality, emotional self, moral sense) can be altered through damage or chemical changes. Therefore, what is it of whatever makes you into 'you' do you believe survives the physical death of the body?

Seenotes-I'm pretty familiar with the Bible. How about answering the actual question? I didn't ask where you think the soul is going, I asked what you think it is.

OK-let me try another tack. If your brain is damaged through no fault of your own and causes drastic personality change for the worse, how will you be judged? By the first self or the second? Does brain damage damage the soul? At what point did Terry Schiavo's soul leave her body?

This question reminds me of a science fiction story I read once where they took the lungs of Cleopatra (she'd been mummified) and extracted her DNA out of it (when know that memories are storied at the DNA level) and then shot it into another woman and she suddenly had all the memories of Cleopatra.

Okay so to answer your question, we know that energy and matter cannot be destroyed, right? So the energy of your body the "you" or the soul, must survive after the body has died, right?

EDIT - Ah okay now I see where you are going. I believe Terry's soul resided in her body, completely conscious, until the day she died. Did you ever see that movie "Awakenings" with Robin Deniro? It's based on a true story. People in a vegetative state for years were "brought back" to consciousness with a drug, and then the effects of the drug went away and they slipped back into being vegetables.

it might desire to be reincarnation! We proceed to come returned returned till we get all of our instructions worked out - to definitely the fullest. You asked if it dies whilst our bodies do - yet you stated assume we don't have souls - So what precisely are you suggesting would die!?! THE physique or THE SOUL... The physique will consistently DIE. There would desire to be something interior that rears self motivation - Be that soul, spirit.. the place does it come from - additionally the place does it bypass = no person knows (basically assumes or have self belief what 'faith' has taught them - which furnish Them A reason To BE!

Memory survives. The brain does not because it is physical. You will be able to remember things you probably had rather forget and others, too.
