Do we live forever as a soul in heaven or are we born again into a new person? I'm scared of death I don't know what happens I'm confused. Could we be born into a starving kid in ethiopia, a rich kid in the suburbs, a dirt poor kid with no home??

It's a big universe and a bigger existence, whatever that may be.

Those who say, "When you're dead, you're dead. No afterlife, no reincarnation" are just as fundamentalist as those who claim to know otherwise.

What is your faith? What do you believe in?

Find it and take comfort in it. You would be just as right or wrong as the next guy.

As for me...the faith of my ancestors precedes that of Judaism and Christianity so I like to think that they are more right than the self-righteousness bouncing around here.

I believe that we return to wherever it is we came from. Our bodies back to the Earth. Our spark of life back to the stars and heavens from whence everything came.

All the ancestors who came before me are there and when my time expires, there, too, my spirit will go to watch over those to come after me.

There's no point in being scared of death -- fear won't make any difference.

I think there's no such thing as a soul; there's no evidence of some immaterial thing that can survive the death of the body. Therefore, the concept of reincarnation is nonsense. Do you really think that the six-and-a-half billion people on earth today are all using somebody else's souls?

it's late here, so I'll give you the short version, based on my personal experience -- first, the essence of you leaves you're body, and you are aware of doing so. second, each person's experience is unique unto themselves. i saw no "white light', which i think is just a shared misconception, what i reached is highly personal, but DID deal with God. overall, when you die, you have the experience of a Peace and tranquility like no other. there is no pain, no suffering, no earthly worries of ANY kind. All that's left behind is your body, and your loved ones. As long as you live a good, decent life, you will experience your own passage to this state of peace. Death is nothing to fear. both times i stopped breathing and had this experience, i DID NOT want to come back. but i PHYSICALLY heard a voice tell me i MUST go back. that it was not yet my time.

Reading your Bible will really help answer all of your questions. The bible states that we will have eternal life in heaven, there will be no saddness, or no tears, just happiness
if you are saved at the time of your death.
If we truely believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
and you have asked him to forgive you of your sins, you shall be saved. John 3:16
is a good verse for starters. May God Bless!

Unfortunetly if anyone knew they would have had to die and live again...and I dont think that that has happened yet....but it somewhats depends in what your belif is in the end. Whether you beleive in a second life, Incarnation, or just a restful eternity. You cant be scared of the uncertain just live your live just and right and in the end youll know whatever is waiting for you it is good!

It depends on what you believe. No one knows for sure what happens when we die. Some people think we either go to heaven or hell, some believe in reincarnation, some believe nothing happens, we just cease to exist.
Different religions have differing views, depending on what your religion or lack of religion would be a good start to finding what you believe.
I simply don't know, and I'm not afraid to find out.

When you die, so does your brain - the place where your thoughts, personality, emotions, and "soul" exists. The matter and energy are absorbed back into the earth, but you as an individual are gone. It's not what we like to hear, but it's the sad truth. You can view my answer as a matter of opinion (which it is), but the spiritual answers are philosophical rather than fact-based.

i think that life would be a lot scarier if i didn't have a religion to help reassure me about "life after death." I'm a catholic, and i believe that when you die, you either go to hell or heaven, or if you're neither, you wait out your time in purgatory. It all depends on what your religion is, and if you're not, well, i just don't know what to say.

I'm taking an 'educated' guess here.... I think it all has to do with karma and how you live your life now. If you live a good life, you move onward. If you live in a way where you still need to work on things when you die, then you'll have to continue working on those things in the next life.

Death separates our soul from our body. in that case, there are only two destinations for our soul - heaven or hell. Heaven if we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior , and accept the fact that He died for your sins, and that you repent of your sins. Hell if who ignore what Jesus has done for us . We should recognize him as the one who paid the penalty for our sins. If we do that , Heaven awaits us.
Death is scary for those who deliberately rejected Christ as their savior. After death, we are the same person. we don't actually reincarnate into another individual. the only difference is that we are now an immortal soul . Indestructible. In hell, you can never be annihilated , even if you wish to. You are then an eternal soul . . . in an eternal hell. Why suffer in hell when you can go to heaven by trusting Jesus?
