sometimes i would rather drink alone than go out does this make me an alcoholic?

ill have 6-12 beers a few days a month by myself and listen to music read etc. rather than go out and spend a lot

I usually get bored if I drink by myself (am pregnant at the moment so clearly haven't done it for a while).
Saying that, though, on several occasions I have drunk a bottle of wine while reading a good book or watching movies at home and I found this enjoyable.
It really depends on how much and how often you are drinking as to whether you are an alcoholic. The question I think you need to consider is why you are drinking? This is what will probably determine whether you become an alcoholic...

Six to 12 beers by yourself seems like a lot to me. I'd get online and check one of those "Am I an alcoholic" websites and answer the questions. Are you brave enough to face it if you are an alcoholic?

YES. THAT'S LIKE ASKING IF YOU EAT CHOCOLATE ALONE. I DON'T DRINK TO GET DRUNK.
I LIKE GUINNESS, I'LL DRINK A COUPLE WHEN I'M IN THE MOOD. I ALSO LIKE THE TASTE OF VODKA, SO I'LL DO A SHOT OR TWO WITH AN OLIVE.
IT COMES AND GOES.. HAVEN'T HAD VODKA IN ABOUT A YEAR. SOMETIMES I'LL DRINK A 12 PACK OF GUINNESS A WEEK, SOMETIMES I WON'T HAVE A BEER FOR WEEKS..

I do on occasion(when it is in the house which is rare). often asked myself the same question. I guess it depends on why you are drinking at the time anyway. My reason all of the time is I like the flavor(hubby buys a good bottle of wine or Kahlua and cream) and it is not to get drunk because I have a glass or two never more. This is probably what you should ask yourself.

I do the same thing... load the cd player with five of my homemade compalations and let the music and beer do the talkin'....

I donno.. I drink 10+ beers every night by myself, and i know i'm an alcoholic.. but then again my situation is much different then most
