I'm afraid to think about what the link between getting pregnant and diet is. But I bet there's a theater in Hollywood showing a movie about it as we speak.

She should eat healthy food in moderation, but not take any diet pills. And not do any of those fad diets. They are really unhealthy. Do take prenatal vitamins. Once she's pregnant, she should gain 20 to 30 lbs, not lose weight.

This is something she should discuss with her doctor, and in fact she really needs to see a doctor to find out everything she should be doing to be healthy before she gets pregnant.
If women are very overweight, their doctors will probably recommend that they lose weight before they get pregnant, to lower the risk of complications such as pregnancy diabetes.

you can't "diet" and have a healthy pregnancy. you can eat healthy and live a healthy lifestyle, but as far as dieting to not gain weight, no. it won't work. it will cause too many complications for both mother and baby.
