Many houses here in Lancashire STILL have an outside loo, but usually there is also one indoors, for the women and poofs.

PS don't use the local paper or the headlines will come off on your nipsy.

Yes I do! In winter you had to contend with snow jammed up against the door, Then there was the waiting when you had to take a younger sibling to the lavvy. Then you had the wild life such as Spiders (which always seem to be there no matter how clean the lavvy was),Butterflies hibernating over winter. Then off course the news paper to wipe with when the loo paper had run out. Do I Miss This NO!

My granny had an outdoor toilet in her cottage. It was a raised platform in a shed adjoined to the cottage. It had two holes (in case you wanted company??) and a stream of poo ,etc, flowed into a steam outside and under a small bridge. The newspapers (loo paper)were interesting.

I remember as a boy, my granda had an outside loo with a tennis ball in it to stop it freezing.

I remember when you had to skip across the bedroom floor, dive under the blankets and huff away to warm your bed up. No central heating in those days.
