I know Cockapoos are really popular. I don't particularly like them but they are cute in a little cotton ball kind of way. Very sweet dogs too.

oh boy!!! 150??? you mean DOLLARS?????
I've never seen a dog for this price.... they are a LOT more expensive than that!!!

you do should look for a rescue dog because of the cost but be aware that even the fee (or adoption donation) in most shelters is more than 150 dollares. sometimes even more than U$300, depending where you go.

you know what I did when I couldn't afford the "price tag" of a puppy??? I waited 4 years till I could... because then I was sure I could not only afford to buy the dog but also afford the whole cost that is involved in owning a pet.
remember that this is not the only money you will have to spend... and most of the non shedding hypoallergenic dogs need GROOMING... a maltese for example needs a bath every week (recommended by the vet) because they have hair and not fur. if you are not into brushing your dog everyday (when they don't shed YOU have to make sure you brush them everyday to take the loose hair out and prevent mats) you have to keep it short... (more money spent with groomers)
there are shots, little vet emergencies... big vet emergencies. good food... things that you have to be prepared for to be able to give your puppy a good happy healthy life!!!

and please... do not buy dogs from pet stores. they all come from puppy mills (don't believe if the people from the store tell you they don't)

if you buy a puppy from a store you will finace this horrible business

Don't ever breed or buy while shelter pets die. Always, always, always adopt from a shelter or rescue group. Don't ever buy a puppy from a breeder, pet shop, or newspaper. You wouldn't believe the huge number of dogs that are euthanized every year in shelters just because there aren't enough homes for them because some people choose to buy from pet shops and backyard breeders instead. To adopt a dog from your shelter, it usually costs anywhere between $35-$100. You have to call them and ask how much their adoption fee is. The adoption fee typically includes shots, heartguard, flea control, rabies shot, a microchip (so you can find him if he ever gets lost), and free food. Again, it depends on the shelter, they are all a little different.
There are also a lot of miniature dogs at shelters. I see chihuahuas, yorkies, etc. there all the time. Just keep checking around your shelters until you find one with a temperament that suits your family.

You should go to your local shelter. There aremany dogs that will fit your bill, so to speak. Pick one that fits the physical description, and run yourhands over it to check the shedding factor - if you can find a brush, evenbetter. Also keep in mind that dogs that do not shed need a lot in the way of coat care! IF they don;t shed the old hairs, they need you to do it for them. Also, they need to be gone over by a professional groomer every 6-8 weeks! Make sure you budget for this! Puppies are overrated! Go for an adult that needs youinstead. Good luck!

I recommend that you look on here for a small light shedding dog http://geo.craigslist.org/iso/us/il Just click your city or nearest city, and look in the pets section. Once in a while there are people who have to give away their little dogs, because they are moving, work too much and don't have time for it, or their kids don't take care of it like they promised to do when the dog was bought. They decide to find a home for it themselves instead of surrendering it to a shelter. There are a lot of them that are "re-homed" for $100, too. I'm sure you'll find one soon enough.

try www.petfinder.com to search for some of the breeds that were mentioned (besides beagles).

You *might* find a puppy for that cheap.. but I doubt it. Even rescues will often charge more for a small breed puppy, because its highly adoptable.

You may have to compromise with either an adult dog, or spend more to get a puppy.

Poodles are great for people with allergies. They are very smart and shed very little, if at all. I'd say go with a poodle. There are large poodles, medium-sized poodles, and toy-sized poodles.

There is probably a poodle rescue in your area. It would be less expensive to get a rescued poodle than to get a puppy mill poodle.

do no longer bypass to puppy shops or Petfinder as lots of those get canines from doggy generators - unfavourable places. are not getting a canine from the newspaper as regularly people breed devoid of theory to well being and genetics and basically for the money. Your suited techniques are animal shelters/rescues/humane societies or a breed rescue.

boxers aren't big shedders. they have hair not fur.
yorkshire terriers have no shedding (well as much as we do)

poodles (standard) aren't big shedders either.

to reduce cost, get from a shelter or rescue.
