and said he would pull the trigger if you say you are a Christian, but let you go free if you deny you are a Christian, what would your response be? Would you truly be willing to literally give your life for God?

I would like to think I'd say "yes."

I hope and I pray that I would say "yes". And from right now, in the safety of this chair, I have no doubt that I would say yes, save one.

Truth is, no one would ever know until the gun is to their head. And I can't debase the choice that others made by assuming that I, from a point of safety, could do what someone did, looking death in the eye. It's my hope I would.

I'm also enough of a coward to hope I never have to find out.

Honestly, I have a young son and another on the way....so currently I'm breathing for two. I'd say whatever would not get me shot and I believe God would forgive me. Somehow I doubt he'd want me to sacrifice myself and more importantly, my baby over some nutjob with a gun.

Of course, the question is, what's the 'right' answer. Notjobs with guns don't always do what they say they will. ;)

ETA: Mr. Danger, I have had a gun pointed at my head (nothing to do with religion) and let me tell you, your blood runs cold at that moment. You don't see it coming and then everything is in slow motion yet it feels like you can't even think over the sound of your heart pounding in your ears. Frankly, I'm not even sure If I'd even hear the question.

I will certainly NOT deny God. God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross for my sins, so why would I not want to do the same? God will certainly intervene - I trust Him completely with my life! If it's not my time to leave this world (as everyone on this earth has an appointed time to die, as the bible says), then God will certainly take charge of that situation! I have total faith and trust in Him!

Amen to what Adore Him said! You go, girl!

Can I safely assume that everybody that said "Yes " has actually had a loaded weapon pressed up against their heads because if you haven't then you can't say "Yes go ahead pull the trigger "
I've had it happen to me twice .Once when I was hitchhiking across America and I got a ride across Wyoming by some crazy cowboy who wanted nothing else but to see if he could scare the crap out of me -he did and once by an NYPD detective who took perverse joy out of spinning the barrel of his revolver as it was pressed against my temple.
To say that it is a terrifying experience is the greatest understatement of all time

Oh yeah. I would leave my daughter without a father and my wife a widow to make a point. How ridiculous is that? I think I would worry more about staying alive for my family than not denying my Pastafarinism. I think the FSM would forgive me.

panic would probably overtake me and who knows what my reaction will be. i'd probably not respond and kick back into their "between the legs." then take their gun and knock them out with it, then keep the gun pointed at them while police arrive. but again, i could never know until i'm put in the situation

but from a non panicked situation and view, i would not deny who i believe in, and who i am

EDIT
even if some people find it weird, sad, or funny that i'd give my life for something they see nonexistant, i'd find it funny, sad, and weird that someone would be pointing a gun at my head because i believe in God

I'm a Christian who carries a 10mm Glock. I'd shoot the punk as soon as he pulled the gun on me and he would meet Jesus. If he shot me first, I'd ask Jesus to forgive me for being a little slow that time...

Yes, I honestly would. I could never live with myself if I said "no," and would not want to. I live my life as a Christian and no circumstance - even one involving a gun - could get me to change my mind.

God is all that I have in this world and all I want to have in the next.

Hope this helps and keep the faith! ;-)

A girl named Cassie Bernall had to make that decision at the hand of one of the gunners at Columbine High in Colorado. She was killed.
Michael W. Smith wrote a song in her honor that opens like this, "It was a test we would all hope to pass/ But none of us would want to take."
