ive actually grown up in los angeles all of my life and just recently spent the last 4 years in norcal for school. ive been to literally ALL of the california resorts, including bear mountain and mountain high, and ALL resorts in the sierra nevada (tahoe area). lets put it this way. socal resorts cannot compare to the tahoe resorts; the vertical drop in tahoe is incomparable, as well as the sheer size of the resortsl
in the last two winters, norcal has had uncanny amounts of snow and have always been great for skiing. socal gets limited amounts of powder and independent of what style you are, your are sure to find the tahoe resorts to be great!
taking your question literally, if youre bored with cali snow, try whistler, bc. or utah and colorado. ive been to all of them a few times and they are so less packed that you will get more bang for your money (even considering the higher lift prices).
