Ok, dont get me wrong...Yes i believe in God. I know that He will help heal people and that praying does help in some cases. But when my uncle was diagnosed with cancer 3 and a half years ago i prayed every night that he'd get better and he still died a year later. I've heard plenty of stories where God has saved someone's life because they prayed and asked Him to help heal them and i do believe some of them. However not everyone is a Christian so saying "just pray and God will help" or something along those lines isn't always the answer. I guess what im trying to say is...Why are most people so quick to assume that praying is always the answer??

God still answers prayer, just maybe not in the way you expected. My mother also died of cancer while people were praying for her. But the way prayer helped her is, she found peace about dying and an angel came to her right before she died to give her comfort at the end. Even though she was in pain, she died with a peaceful look and a smile on her face. God doesn't always answer the way we want, but He does answer. You just have to except the answer He gives you. Every one will die, if people didn't die because we prayed and asked God to let them live, then no one would ever die. That is what will happen when we get to Heaven, no more death. Praying is always the answer, if you can except the way that God answers.

I can only answer from personal experience as a Christian. Prayer is not the answer- prayer is putting our faith and trust in the ONE that knows the answer. I cannot even start to tell you why God will heal one person and not another, but I can say, that He is right in all He does. I am so sorry to hear that your uncle passed away- I know God loves you and him, just as much as the ones that He has healed- however if your uncle was a believer, He is healed now, for eternity with Jesus and in no more pain. I have a chronic illness that causes pain every day- some days I am in so much pain, it is hard to move. I have prayed and others have prayed that I would be healed, however as of this moment I am not, but I can still say God answers prayer, because I also pray for His grace and strength to endure, and that I received.

You assume to pray right then and there because you know that God will help you. You have faith in Him.

But remember: Don't question God. Your prayer wasn't answered or something because God destined it to happen. He planned everything carefully, remember that. He is the Master Planner. He knows what He is doing and what He will do.

God knows His own actions. He is just doing the right things.

Now that I'm typing this, I think I'm getting the idea that God is just testing your faith, too. I've been through tough times. I had the same case with you, that is, replace your uncle with my grandfather.

Sorry to hear about your uncle, BTW. May he rest in peace.

I think you have a very valid point. Sometimes we pray and our prayers seem to be "answered" (i.e. things work out in our favor). Other times we pray and we experience what you went through. I have spent days and days praying for somebody or something only to see that my desired results did not come about.

I don't know why people assume praying will solve everything. I still can't figure that out myself. Man, I often hear the phrase "prayer works" as if God is a vending machine who you put quarters into to get what you want.

I think the greatest development of faith in God is living through times where your prayers seem "unanswered." Perhaps there is a thought that praying can give people hope that they wouldn't normally have.

I think it is good to hope for things, but, for me, what praying has done a lot of the time has not necessarily given me what I wanted, but changed my perspective toward the situation despite the outcome.

I suppose that's why I pray....but...I will say that there seem to be many people out there who give false promises and ideas about God. Praying seems to be more of a search for a solution to problems. So, after this ramble of thoughts of mine, I think that people assume praying solves things because they have a hard time feeling as though they are not in control and it gives them a sense of control.

The bible tells that when we pray to be specific. When one prays God answers according to His will. His answers are yes, no and not yet. When we pray for God to heal someone we love I believe that what we consider "a healing" is not what God considers a healing. I prayed the same prayer for a loved one of mine and then they died. God did heal her, totally and complete. No more pain, no ,more hurting or suffering because He God totally healed them and gave them a perfect body in heaven. God knows what He's doing.

everything happens for a reason. God works in mysterious ways. sometimes i dont get some things that he wants us to do. and i always wonder how some people who dont worship God become rich and famous. well, i learned that if your a christian, when you die, you will be going to a better place, kind of like your uncle. you should keep praying for anyone. i will have you in my prayers as you struggle through hard times. you have to trust God and love him and i know you do. you will have a lot more problems as you get older, but its just life and you can overcome and learn a lot of things as you pray.

i don't believe praying will save anyones life. people pray every day for such things, just as you did and as i have done myself, without a good outcome. God doesn't choose who lives or dies in my opinion. and God doesn't listen to one persons prayers and ignore someone else's. a little girl died lately in our community , she had suffered with cancer for 4 years. her family is very religious and there were literally thousands of people praying for her recovery yet she ended up dying. prayers don't keep death away. prayer gives people hope i guess.

How do you know you didn't make things better by praying?
My friend always says "I hate to imagine how much worse it would be if you hadn't prayed!". Prayer changes things it really does. Because when you ask the God of the universe to get involved, something will happen for the better you just never know what! I'm sorry about your Grandpa the same thing happened to mine. But he got closer to God through the process.

It is better early pray to god before any curses or sins start to effect. All witnesses are telling because they got answers for the prayers.
