i was wondering if marijuana is really as bad as the media says, what can it do to you? i know that it’s not the worse drug and it’s very popular amongst teens, but why is the media spending so much time fixated on marijuana, instead of heroin? studies show that smoking cigarettes gives people a greater chance of contracting lung cancer than smoking marijuana. and people with cancer can consume marijuana legally, because it helps with the nausea a cancer patient may feel after chemo.

Depends on who you get it from

I'm more afraid of what alcohol is doing to people than what Mary Jane is.

Legalize it, regulate it and tax the hell out of it. So many problems solved in one instance.

Though, for legitmate health concerns it can cause lung cancer, memory problems, stunted growth, and a serious case of the munchies.

i agree! weed is less toxic than tobacco and alcohol, more enjoyable, and possibly even ( i believe it is) beneficial to the human mind when not smoked excessively. it would actually be safer if marijuana was legal, because it would get rid of the weird processes people use to dry it. and freaking twelve million people use it, its about time they care more for our health than ruining our good times!

this is an excerpt from the erowid cannabis faq: Marijuana laws make it harder to use marijuana without damaging your body. Water-pipes are illegal in many states. Filtered cigarettes, vaporizers, and inhalers have to be mass produced, which is hard to arrange `underground.' People don't eat marijuana often because you need more to get as high that way, and it isn't cheap or easy to get (which is the reason why some people will stoop to smoking leaves.) This may sound funny to you -- but the more legal marijuana gets, the safer it is.

smoke up! --elisabeth
p.s. it is addicting psychologically only because it is so freakin enjoyable. it isnt addicting physically like hard drugs like heroin and cocaine and such.

and you people are saying it "messes with your mind". yes it does, it totally expands it and makes you think beyond the realms of normal thinking. when used in moderation, it really is a beautiful drug. everyone that's never tried is truly missing out on a good experience.

Scientists have learned a great deal about how THC acts in the brain to produce its many effects. When someone smokes marijuana, THC rapidly passes from the lungs into the bloodstream, which carries the chemical to organs throughout the body, including the brain. In the brain, THC connects to specific sites called cannabinoid receptors on nerve cells and influences the activity of those cells. Some brain areas have many cannabinoid receptors; others have few or none. Many cannabinoid receptors are found in the parts of the brain that influence pleasure, memory, thought, concentration, sensory and time perception, and coordinated movement4. The short-term effects of marijuana can include problems with memory and learning; distorted perception; difficulty in thinking and problem solving; loss of coordination; and increased heart rate. Research findings for long-term marijuana abuse indicate some changes in the brain similar to those seen after long-term abuse of other major drugs. For example, cannabinoid (THC or synthetic forms of THC) withdrawal in chronically exposed animals leads to an increase in the activation of the stress-response system5 and changes in the activity of nerve cells containing dopamine6. Dopamine neurons are involved in the regulation of motivation and reward, and are directly or indirectly affected by all drugs of abuse..... Read on.....

I know there are worse drugs out there like cocaine but marijuana really messes with your brain and can impare judgement just as much as drinking alchohol. If I get a whiff of cigarette smoke I cough and leave the room but 2nd hand marijuana smoke can give a person an unintended high. Its not a pleasant experience. Its happened to me twice. I actually felt lightheaded and sick. It does have its medicinal uses but in the wrong hands its deadly faster than any cigarette. In my opinion, use it for medicinal purposes only under the care of a doctor other than that its not worth it

well weed is pretty much a cigarette...only better for you because you dont use it so much but the addiction to it can be just as bad if not worse. trust me when i say you do get addicted to it. only potheads tell you you cant get addicted because they want to justify their addiction. its illegal for a reason. alcohol would be illegal as well if they could. the goveernment tried once it didnt go well its too easy to make alcohol to control it hell my dad use to make wine and moonshine in out house years ago its very easy. i had friends in college that were addicted to weed. they would get sick if they tried to stop and it was too hard for them to stop so they just keep doing it. its soo bad with them they are just like heroin addicts. they have smoking schedules and if they dont get theif fix by a certain time they start to freak out. just dont do it its not worth the psychological damage. and people who have been using all their life say their short term memory is messed up soo it does damage your brain.

Pot is more powerful than it was 20 years ago. It's not only the smoking but also who you are smoking it with that can push you to stronger drugs.
You don't need to even try it, ask the ones hooked to drugs what they'd give to go back and undo what they did to themselves and not take that first cigarette.
If people say that smoking is worse than pot, I know its the users who try to excuse themselves.
Take it from me,my nephew started pot at 18 before advancing to stronger drugs. He died last February at 23.

As they say, it's your life and your decision.
I hope you make the right one

its like drinking
but you can actually drive fine and you have more senses

i wouldnt recommend it till youre over 18
because it does damage to your frontal lobe which is still growing when youre younger so you never can really make adult decisions

im 15 and ive never done it.
i really dont plan on it either

They don't call it Demon Weed for nothing.

(Of course, I've never heard it called that. I just made it up. There's nothing bad about it. Smoke up.)
