I just read this story about an illegal immigrant rescuing a 9 year old boy from a car crash and stay with him until authorities arrived. When the authorities arrived they took him into custody. My question is... Do you think he deserves to become a citizen because of this great display of selflessness. He basically gave up himself to protect and help the child. Personally I believe he deserves citizenship. We need more people like him in this country. This is coming from a person who doesnt agree with legalizing illegal immigrants. He should be the exception. One reason why I dont want to legalize immigrants is becuase they will be a burden to our society. The man regardless of what he does in the future has given more than 95% of Americans to others. Great story

In a way I agree Vlad. Send him back with the understanding that if he goes through the process the right way he will be garunteed citizenship. I think they should expedite the process for him though.

I wouldn't go as far as giving him citizenship., But, I would give him the opportunity to at least apply for legal status. Maybe give him permission to reside in the US legaly while his documents are being prossesed through a hearing and immigration.

wow, I thought I might run into a story like this one day. Should he be legalized? hhhmmm, I don't know. He definitely should be rewarded with something though. He could have easily left the boy there to die but instead he took the risk of getting caught and deported to save a life. Perhaps he should get legalized or at least another temporary green card.
Normally I'm against any form of amnesty, but this man has shown a great deal of good character. Personally, I think their probably gonna deport him, but if it were up to me I think I'd help the guy out with his situation somehow, whether it be rewarding him citizenship or something else.

Honestly I think it was a very honourable and wonderful thing that he did for the boy and he should be publically honoured as a real hero for it.
But no I do not think that he should be given citizenship like that.
You say that people like him should be citizens and are the kind of people who deserve it and I agree. Any country would be better for calling him one of theirs.
But if you want people like him to immigrate to the US and become citizens and all that than it would be better to actually manage and correct the US immigration laws and processes so they reflect what the US citizens really want.
The United States of America was based on the principle of a nation of laws and not of men.

No, I don't.
However, this is one situation where I do believe taking him into custody on this opportunity (unless there is some other crime we don't know about) is not in the best interest of the public.
I mean, taking someone you pulled over for running a red light is one thing - you don't WANT people running red lights, in any event. You DO want people acting helpfully in a situation like this.
In what way did he save the kid's life, by the way?
--
read it. He DIDN'T save the kid's life, he just stayed with him until help came the next day after the kid's mother was killed following the crash.
However, that's still a nice thing, and but for doing that, he'd have never been caught.

He should be deported if he's an illegal alien.
The child's family may want to try to sponsor him as a legal immigrant if they feel grateful for what he did for them.
This should not happen until after he is deported though.

It can't be denied that he did a good deed, but if he is such a great person - surely he'll understand if we ask him to go back and do it the right way?

Yes, he should get at least a green card and the gratitude of the boy's family.
