when my friend and her bf argue it gets out of hand. she tells me he doesnt hit her but grabs her by the shirt and pushes her against the wall. is this considered a violent act and can he be arrested? i'm worried it might go further than a snatch and grab.

Not only is this an act of violence, it is an act of control. Control and violence go hand in hand. The more she allows it, the more control he gets. And it can only get worse from there.

Even though there was no assault, this could be charged as a disorderly conduct.

She needs to call the local domestic violence shelter, they will advise her.

This is definitely considered a violent act. This is the beginning of bad things to come. He should be arrested and you need to get your friend away from this prick. I am a guy who had my own violence issues. It started with yelling and grabbing and the next thing I knew I threw my girlfriend into a wall. This argument woke me up and I immediately got counseling. I don't know where this violence comes from but it is not acceptable. GET YOUR FRIEND SOME HELP.

yes, absolutely it is considered a violent act amd is illegal. YOu're right to be worried; your friend could be in a lot of danger. Call the police----I doubt they'll do anything just on hearsay, but you should fill out a report on the ******* anyway. Encourage your friend to leave the jerk, as well, and call911 if you ever hear or see them fighting like that.

YEs that is considered abuse, anytime a person lays a hand on someone else while in a fit od rage its considered, abuse. He doesn't even need to touch her, but by yelling he is verbally abusing her. If your friend isn't doing anything about it, calling the police, and you see that she has marks on her do her a favor and call. She will tank you later even if she is upset at first.

Yes it is. You friend needs to get out of this relationship before it gets worse. If he does that now what makes her think he will stop there. He obviously has an anger management problem. Good luck.

you need to tell your friend to get out before things get worse. i was with this guy for almost 2 years and got my *** whooped for nothing. i was convinced that things would get better and all they got was worse. it started off with small pushes and shoves but then it turned into kicks and punches. Let your friend know that it's ok to tell somebody whats going on. Stand by her and don't let him know that you know!

GRABBING BY THE SHIRT IS AN ASSAULT
PUSHING HER INTOA WALL IS ANOTHER ASSAULT OF A DIFFERENT DEGREE.

ARRESTED YES FOR BOTH ACTS AS SEPERATE ACT.

HE OBVIOUSLY DOES NOT RESPECT HER.

IF SHE ALLOWS THIS, WHAT NEXT TO GET HER ATTENTION.

This is a clear violation of any pysical abuse act that you may have in your country. I suggest you or your friend have this reported to the nearest police station. What are you waiting for?
