Subaru's are a great car. There AWD has been well proven and handles itself very well in the winter. Subaru's are known for there dependability. My father owned one that gave him 200,000 miles with no problems. If you are looking at used subaru's make sure they are 2002 or newer, as there was a head gasket problem with the 2001 and earlier. Avoid the WRX, it's to light for the snow, the outback is a great vehicle to look at. You really can't go wrong with a new subaru, good luck!

i have owned 7 Subaru,s in the past ten years the only problems i ever had from any of them was cv joints other than that they all were good cars,i like the way they drive in bad weather,i had one that bottomed out with me once in real deep snow,it actually climbed up on a pile of snow and got stuck,we had like 18 inches of snow at one time though, after a few minutes it sunk down and got hold and went right on,all i can say about those are they are really good vehicles,i haven't owned any of the real newer ones, but they all seem to be really good,as far as gas mileage they do excellent with that part of it ,good luck on it.

Subaru is a very reliable company in general, but their fuel economy isn't that great. How about considering a Nissan or perhaps a Toyota - I'm not sure if you want an SUV or not though? The Subarus have AWD though, but their fuel economy is average, not really excellent IMHO.

They're great. The one I had was very reliable and traction control was very good although for fuel efficiency, my honda is better. When someone t-boned me at 45mph, the subaru did what it was supposed to do and protected me and my passenger. We walked away with just a sore neck that went away in a couple days.

A Subaru s/b a good, sturdy car, especially since the base cost for one is around $25,000.

I have a 1991. It has been fairly reliable for its age.
