I've been trying to teach myself how to play the piano for a while now(6 months). I haven't really used a book yet, but I plan to in the near future. All I know about piano lessons is that they're extremely expensive and I would have to start from scratch anyway. My first question is, would it be possible to teach myself how to read music and play the piano with just a book? Also, I'm having so much trouble with my left hand (I am right handed). I just can't seem to play anything with it, and I have tried so hard to get the grip. Is that a problem for me? Does that mean I will never be able to play? I know I need practice with it, and I have been, but nothing seems to be helping, I practice for two hours every weekday, and it's almost all I can do on the weekends. I wish there was an easier way to learn because I really want to. Please answer my questions. If you can only answer one that's fine and I really appreciate your time.

I really think you should invest in some lessons, at least till you get the basics down. You have been struggling for 6 mo now because you don't know the proper technique, or what to play to build up that left hand. To really play the piano, you DO need that left hand, no matter what that other answerer said. Start with scales, both hands, in every key. Play them over and over and over. Seriously look into a teacher so you dont pick up all kinds of bad habits that will hold you back.

dont worry about your left hand, its not like you have to be ambidextirous to play! you'll get it, it just takes a lot of practice, so keep up with it. play really simple riffs ( c,e,g,e,c) with each hand alone a few times and then try to do them together in unicen. and when youre ready, by schaumm books i think they are. theres a whole line of note reading practice on top of the basic introductory lessons.
