For you I would recommend "A Child's Treasury of Bible Stories."

The NIV, or New International Version is by far the most popular and most used Bible version in our day. It is the KJV of the modern era.
Santa, by the way, simply means "saint." St. Nicholas was a pastor in ancient Turkey. If he were preaching across the English speaking world today, he would use the NIV, and if you are just being a smart aleck right now by asking this question, he is going to put coal in your stocking. Oh yes, he is alive, as are all the saints in heaven.

Amplified Bible is cool, I like it but sometimes I get a little distracted with the super descriptive nature of it. NIV is a pretty clear read. I like the NKJV, it keeps the poetic and lyrical tenor to the writings. Revised Standard is decent. I still haven't warmed up to the Message. I never had much problem understanding KJV only because I was a huge fan of Shakespeare and I understood the sentence and word constructions readily. Okay... sorry if it was too much info. But I do hope you get some helpful answers. Thanks for being cool.

First off, don't "ask Santa" for anything -- that's the first commandment being toyed with --

A study Bible would be good, if you like Bible study. KJV and NASB are among the most literal, word-for-word translations, which is good for word studies. Or if you prefer easy to read versions, you can ask for NLT or even the Message Bible. All the best and happy reading.

Santa and Satan look alike for me, but I can give one. The Recovery Version of the Bible. Wow, what a Bible! Once you begin reading it you do not want to stop. Because of a pure translation and it has footnotes that are really life-giver. Buy one do not wait for Santa or S... you know.

i've heard many people debate this as to what is the best version for different people, liten to what I heard a preacher say. He said The Lord told Him, while in prayer that the different versions were like different types or styles of bread.personnally i like the newkink james and the amplified, particularely the amplified for it really gives in depth understanding to what's being said.

I'd say the reptilian version might be the easiest for you to understand. It's written from the viewpoint of a lizard which is handy for you.

New Revised Standard Version. Go to the bookstore and look for an edition that's well footnoted and cross referenced and ask for that one.

PS - Get the Catholic version 'cause it has the Apocrypha - I have a feeling that' would be the one you'd want anyway.
