No she's not overweight.
As for the "I don't want her to get hurt" issue, let her try! Encourage her! At this day and age, more and more models are fighting the "stick skinny" image. Although it may be hard, let her try it out. Be there for her. I swear, if your friend thinks that she can do, she can.
Think about what might be going through her head if she thinks that "you don't want her to get hurt".
She might be saying "My best friend doesn't even believe in me!". She might lose faith in herself. In the end, if she believes in her dreams, that's all that matters. If she doesn't thinks she can do it, then who will?
So what if the modeling industry is tough? If she can handle a couple rude remarks here and there, then she'll be fine. She just needs to know that if you have confidence, it will show up in your work. If not, any career that she goes into (modeling or not) will just spit her out into a cold, harsh reality.
Don't worry about the ways that she can fail. Help her find ways that she can succeed! Just believe in her dreams as much as she does!

Ooo overweight for a model? I'm not sure about that but I am positive that she has a healthy weight =) According to a body mass index, she is 21.3 which is good. She isn't overweight nor underweight. According to the numbers I'd say she would be a good model, when it comes to weight.
****Remember that skill and poise will make up for weight when it comes to modeling
Edit: 153 seems like a lot but she is really tall which is A PLUS!! Models need to be tall and her weight is good for her height.

Your friend's BMI is 22, which is very healthy. She is definitely NOT overweight. But I do think she might be considered a bit too big to model.

No, she is definitely not overweight.
However most models tend to be really skinny and at 5ft11 weigh around 125lb (which is ridiculous but that is the industry at the moment).

You should tell her to talk to her doctor to see if she should lose some weight, because if she wants to get into modeling and she does need to lose weight, you don't want her to have an eating disorder.
It might also be helpful to find an online BMI calculator, just enter her weight and height and it'll let you know if she's a healthy weight.

No, not in reality. 136-165 is the ideal body weight for her height.
But in the relm of modeling, she is a plus size model. Models have to be rail thin, and even then they are told to loose weight sometimes.

If your friend is 5'11" and 153 lbs, has a vivacious figure, great posture and is pretty face , she might very well be a model. For what I do not have a clue.

I would do a search for Body Mass Index (BMI) that might tell you if she is overweight or not or considered overweight
