I have a Mac that's running off of 10.2.8...But I'd like to upgrade to 10.3.

Are there any free downloads to update my Mac computer, or will it cost me?

Any advice or input is appreciated.

Updates from 10.a.x to 10.a.y are free, and you can get them through the included Software Update utility. Updates from 10.a.x to 10.b.x are not free, and you can buy them (or, hypothetically, pirate them) from either Apple or a retailer that carries them.

If you're upgrading from 10.2.8, depending on the hardware specs of your computer, you may want to consider getting one of the later versions of the OS (10.4 or 10.5). Leopard (10.5) was only recently released. There is no need to be intermediate systems, as you can go directly from 10.2 to 10.5.

Sorry, no free download except the illegal channel. You have to buy a copy of Mac OS X 10.3
