I'm a 31-year-old female. I don't cry. I know that's not typical because I always hear about how weepy women are. I remember I used to cry and get emotional about things up until about my late teens or early twenties. Then I just stopped. My reaction to sadness or pain now is usually numbness, withdrawal, or sometimes anger, but never tears. What do you think could cause this phenomenon? My husband says I act like a man with boobs....lol.

When your life has been hit with an overwhelming sadness (my wife of 24 years died 13 months ago) it is like a shot of novacaine to the brain. Things that were once upsetting are not tragic at all anymore. Someday, someone or something will touch your soul again and the tears will flow.

It's called "emotional numbing". I have it. It usually happens after something traumatic happens to you. Or, has anyone made fun of you for crying? That can do it. Crying is so; healing and such a good release. I have PTSD and panic attacks. I feel like if I could cry it would heal me. But I can't.Once in awhile something comes on tv that makes me cry a little ...but I only do it if I'm alone.

People who cry are usually not in a position of having power or control over what ever it is. You are probably a girl of action who looks to fix problems rather than add to them.
You are human and your crying days are hardy over ... I wouldn't go looking for them ;)

I'm kind of the same, I rarely cry. I just feel anger or numbness. Maybe we're lacking certain hormones....

I do the same thing....I just don't want my kids seeing me cry about things.....So I hold things in side. But I pray a lot and tell God what is going on which he knows but he wants me to tell him.....I would be crying all the time if I cried about things that upset me......So I choose to pray about things....

I hardly cry...I think the reason is I'm emotionally very stable and use logic more often the most people.

Maybe something tramatic happened. I would just try to open up and talk to someone. Or maybe you just are not an emotional person.
