LOVE?
I KNOW THAT WHEN YOU TAKE A VACATION FOR A WEEK, YOU ARE ANXIOUS TO GET BACK TO WORK. THE JOB DOES SOMETHING TO YOU INSIDE.THE COMRADE SHIP IS UNREAL. YOU DEPEND ON EACH OTHER. NOBODY BUT ANOTHER OFFICER CAN RELATE TO HOW YOU FEEL. IT IS NOT A LOVE PER SAY, BUT A DESIRE TO DO WHAT YOU DO AND ENJOY IT.
THEY SAY YOU COULD GET KILLED. YES, BUT SO CAN YOU WALKING ACROSS THE STREET OR DRIVING TO WORK?
I THINK IT HAS TO DO WITH THE ADRENALIN RUSH YOU GET ON A CALL, THAT PUTS POLICE WORK ON THE EDGE.

Yes, most of them actually. I have numerous friends at LAPD and I lived just outside of North Hollywood. Just because there is a terrible incident like that it doesn't (in MOST cases) change your entire perspective on your career. If it does, then those people need to get out. I know an Officer who retired after a shooting he was involved in. It was too stressful for him, he had a new wife & baby at home and realized that it just as easily could have been him getting zipped up by the Coroner instead of the bad guy.

But most of the Officers still love their jobs. Ask around at NYPD about how many still loved their jobs after 9/11. The vast majority will still honestly answer yes.

Most cops don't think about it, till it happens, like there was this one officer, he said he never that he would be in a gun shoot out ever, but it happen, and he couldn't sleep for three days, but he continue to be a cop, because every cops knows the risk when they enter into the law enforcement profession, and any cop who can't handle it, and screw up, should seriously resign.

I am sure they do. It comes with the territory of "protect and serve".

I have some friends that are officers at various levels, and they all state they love their job. They know the risks, but they still enjoy seeing justice done, and protecting the people of their city/state.

It takes a certain individual to be an officer, but the ones that choose the life do so knowing what could happen, but hoping it never does.

Sure they do. Just because there were officers shot in that incident does not mean they judge there profession on that alone. Any more than any other police officer injured in the line of duty.

Some of them were seriously hurt protecting the lives of the citizens of LA. I'm sure the word "fun" never entered their minds. However, the word "heroes" enters mine.
