Because it's said to mean different things to different religions.
Jerusalem has been the holiest city in Judaism and the spiritual homeland of the Jewish people since the 10th century BCE.
For Christians, Jerusalem is the place where Jesus was brought as a child, to be 'presented' at the Temple (Luke 2:22) and to attend festivals (Luke 2:41). According to the Gospels, Jesus preached and healed in Jerusalem, especially in the Temple courts. There is also an account of Jesus' 'cleansing' of the Temple, chasing various traders out of the sacred precincts (Mark 11:15). At the end of each of the Gospels, there are accounts of Jesus' Last Supper in an 'upper room' in Jerusalem, his arrest in Gethsemane, his trial, his crucifixion at Golgotha, his burial nearby and his resurrection and ascension.
Jerusalem has also played a great role in Islam. It is the location of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, considered by many Muslims to be the third holiest site. Also in particular:
It is strongly associated with people regarded as Prophets of Islam - in particular, David, Solomon, and Jesus;
It was the first qibla (direction of prayer) in Islam, before the Kaaba in Mecca;
Muhammad is believed to have been taken by the flying steed Buraq to visit Jerusalem, where he prayed, and then to visit heaven, in a single night in the year 620. The Qur'anic verse (17:1) is interpreted by all widely used tafsirs (commentaries) as referring to this journey, with the term "the farthest Mosque" (al-masjid al-Aqsa) which lies in the Noble Sanctuary in Jerusalem today.

No , there is no archaeological proof of the sacrifice of Issac on Mt. Moriah, because he was NOT sacrificed! God provided a RAM in his place.
Jerusalem IS the center of the Universe in God's mind. NOTE the FOCUS of the world is there almost always!!!
Isaiah speaks of Jerusalem as a cup of trembling to the nations.
How we treat the Jews, how he treat Israel, and Jerusalem, good or bad will come back to BLESS or curse us. That is scriptural too. A promise God made to Abraham !

the excuses that the Watchtower supplies for accepting 607 would desire to do with the actuality that they believe historians on 539 B.C.E. using fact the date for the autumn of Babylon; and permitting 2 years for the eventual launch and return of the Jews to Jerusalem, the Watchtower in basic terms counts back 70 years from 537 to reach at 607. So, their reasoning is that using fact the Scriptures say that Jerusalem might lay desolate for 70 years; and from the date 586/7 to 537 is in basic terms approximately 40 9 years, the Watchtower is going with 607. even however, the completed argument is quite moot besides, given the actuality that that's reasoned out scripturally that the Gentile situations have no longer something to do with the so-stated as seven situations of Daniel besides. considering Jesus' presence is via stealth, like a thief interior the evening, the only way he would desire to certainly arrive as devoid of be conscious--as though a thief--to those that are in any different case in expectation, is that in the event that they're initially delivered approximately have faith some little bit of incorrect information concerning Christ's presence. Three major religions believe that the scriptures are more then enough evidence to identify Jerusalem as the location.
Challenge yourself a bit:
You can actually follow that plot of land that Abraham was directed to go.
Land of Moriah, Ornan's threshing floor, the Jebusites that inhabited the city first....
You must consider that Isaelis consider the Torah, the Old Testament as a document of history!

It is a well-established traditional/historic belief, passed down the generations. Not hard to believe. But who cares what humans might live there. God claimed it and he'll place who he wants when he wants them there. Just know that Israel is all God's particular land for whatever reasons, and that Jesus will return bodily from Heaven to that mount in the near future I believe. No one will be able to do anything about it. From there he will rule the earth until he remakes it entirely 1000 years later.

For Jews, this is the promised land by God. For Christians, this is the place of Christ's ministry and the site of his death, resurrection and return. For Muslims, it is the place that Muhammad will come back with Jesus.
Jerusalem has been the center of things since Biblical times. Coincidence? I think not.

There are tons of archaeological verifications made of the Bible, so much that at least 4 top Archaeologists have been accused of being Christians or Jews.
I'm willing to trust a Bible that's been vindicated so many times.

It was the location of the Temple and the location of the future Temple. If you can prevent the Temple from being rebuilt then the Bible is a lie and the God of the Bible isn't God.
