i figure if hell is fire and brimstone, then heaven must be underwater and and all of our souls must turn into fish wearing fur coats when we get there, otherwise, how would we survive.

I believe that Heaven and Hell are not places. Instead, I believe they are states of spiritual being. Heaven is spiritual union with God through the power of love, and Hell is separation from God because of the inability to love.

It might be that, even if a person is unable to love (a sociopath), s/he can still achieve union with God after death, simply by existing. There's no way to know.

The concept is very well expressed in a Wiccan song:

"We all come from the Goddess,
And to her we shall return,
Like a drop of rain,
Flowing to the ocean."

Iciss the Fundamental (SL)

Heres a hard one, god is supposed to be omnipresent, meaning he is everywhere and within everything, so hell can't be the absence of god because that would go against thousands of years of teachings-but then again the bible says hell is the absence of god...so if its wrong on both accounts, doesn't that still make it wrong?

I mean if theres anouther mistake then three wrongs make a right and everythings fine, but I just see two.

back to the question heaven is....erm....bright...and...the opposite of hell!

Hell is a place of consciousness created by beings with free will who went against God's vision. Vibration wise it is of even lower density than the physical world, hence why it said that it is "below" us. I found a really interesting article on the whole thing. It rings a bell with me anyways.

Your analogy is misguided because it sees no further than physical oppositeness. Heaven and Hell are spiritual opposites, not environmental opposites. They are opposite in terms of the relationship the occupants have with God and with each other. In Hell, there is nothing but endless hate and despair. In Heaven there is nothing but endless beauty and love.

Heaven-eternal life with God

Hell-eternal separation from God

I think people always bring up the eternal lake of fire in regards to hell. I think the real horror is realizing we will be totally separated from God for eternity.

Hell is not the oposite of heaven in that sense. They are opposites in the sense that one is paradise and the other is punishment.
