I think from what i've studied I made the right move...

Today, black friday, there was this TV on sale, and I had the last one. It was a supposed 37" 1080i for $550

but then I looked at it's specs, and it's native resolution was only 1366 x 740 (or something like that, I know it was 13xx by 7xx)

So I gave it away to some other person. Should I have bought it? I want a TV for Blu-ray so this TV wouldn't've cut it right?

And if you're answering my question I'll throw another one your way, how much would a good 30"-ish 1080i run me? $600?

Thanks in advance

At 37" the human eye can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. Yes, Buleray can output at 1080p, but you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you were viewing this on a 37 "1080p tv or the 37" (720p) tv you almost bought today. Save yourself some money and get a 720p tv unless you plan on buying a tv that is closer to 50 inches.

This is for your 2nd question. There are very few 1080i tv's for sale. As far as I know, Hitachi is the only brand that makes such a tv. All other HDTV's are either 720p or 1080p native resolution. A 720p tv takes a 1080i signal and down-converts it to 720p.... it's native resolution. So, how much does a 37" 720p tv cost? That $600 deal you had today was a great deal. Typically, a 37" can cost between $800-$1500 depending on brand.

You should have grabbed it.

At 37", I doubt the you could have seen the improvement going higher than 720p resolution. If you could have made out a difference, it would be very minor.

Now if you had been looking at 50" or bigger, I'd say you made the right choice.

It was at Target right? yeah i know... i work there... the electronics dept.
A lot.. alot... alot of people were asking for that. It was a pretty great deal, i believe the regular price was somewhere between 700 to 800 im not sure. I feel bad for you, the person above me is right... the resolution wouldnt of made a difference to the naked eye.
