If you were retching hard (this can happen with food poisoning, flu, bad hangover), the most likely answer is "prolonged and vigorous retching may cause a tear in the small blood vessels of the throat or the esophagus." In that case, the blood isn't terribly scary; worry more about dehydration.
If you are a chronic drinker, and the problem doesn't go away, or it comes back, then you can start worry a lot about the blood. It's a sign of things going very wrong. (see "Acute gastritis" link below; second reference.) There are other unlikely causes for your particular case (unlikely in that they don't come with fever and backache): tumors, ulcers, etc.
Many sorts of food poisoning and other bacterial diseases can cause bloody "number 2." See the third reference.
Again, unless you are bleeding a lot (watch for dark, older, tarry-looking blood, as well as bloody-looking blood), ... worry more about dehydration in the short term. If it lasts a long time (over a week), or comes back periodically, see your doctor.
(If it's intense purple red, ask yourself whether you ate any beets. Amazing how the color stays around.)

You definitely need to go to emergency. If you can drive yourself or have someone take you, do so. If not, just call an ambulance. I've had food poisoning from eating out before but never any blood. This sounds serious. Don't wait. Not to scare you, but people do die of food poisoning.

Forget the doctor, go to the emergency room or urgent care. The blood could be from any number of problems, from serious to deadly. Don't find out the hard way that it was deadly!

Not good. Time for a doc.
Blood in the toilet coming from both ends MAY be serious.
Red blood in #2 is likely minor, dark/tarry stool is another story.
See a doc ASAP - maybe even at the ER tonight.

The color of the blood has a lot do with it, bright red blood ususally means its an ulcer, darker blood means bleeding internal. Anyway you look at it Go see you Dr.

Sounds like Ecoli food poisoning. If it doesn't clear up in another 24 hrs or if it gets worse, see your doctor or go to the emergency room. It can be very dangerous in some people.
