so i have a 6 year old female cat that has always had some allergy problems, especially to fleas, which i have taken care of with frontline in the past, or she gets over it on her own. but now she is scratching herself raw and sneezing alot (maybe 6 times an hour or so). she is covered in scabs and scratches and chews on herself constantly but has no fleas at all, i checked her thoroughly. she has also always been a nervous cat, so i suppose this could be a symptom of stress? she rarely leaves my bedroom lately as well. shes eating fine and seems to have energy. i have another cat who is scratching herself raw as well but is not sneezing and does not hide in my room all day. so my question is - do any of you have any clue why she is scratching and sneezing so much? is it allergies? is it stress? or something else? also, she hasnt been to the vet in a few years, as she is technically my mom's and my mom doesnt have much money right now to take our 5 cats to the vet. please help me!!!

No, nobody on here has much of a clue, as you can see. Not possible to diagnose over the internet! Tell your mom to sort herself out and help the poor cat. It could well be a flea allergy - it only takes one flea - but the sneezing is probably another issue altogether. The cat needs a vet.

The best thing to do is to call the vet and ask someone there about it. I have done so in the past and they offer great advise. They have seen animals with all sorts of illnesses over the years so it is likely they have had cats with the same symptoms come in so they should know the best thing to do. If it is something that requires a vet visit I sugest taking the one with the worst symptoms in first.

It actually seems pretty cruel to just sit by while your cats scratch themselves raw. Aside from being terribly uncomfortable, it's probably painful to be "raw". A vet is the only person who can tell you what is for sure wrong with your cats. and a vet is the only person who can treat the problem. Please see a vet ASAP!!

have u been using any new products lately, if so, she may b allergic 2 it. stop using it 4 a while and c if it goes away. if not, she also could have another type of parasite instead of fleas like lice or ticks. i hope ur cat feels better soon!! =^.^=

Im not sure of the treatment/cause/cure for this, but Ive seen it before, and it sounds like something they call "mange". You may want to do a little research on it.
