I changed a compressor on an old kenmore and got it all checked, no leaks and held a vaccum. The filter has a tap on it to access the system. I charged with suction with 3.75 oz as it says and it still will not run correctly. What could it be?

Did you allow any liquid refrigerant to leave the can or did you suck gas only? One gulp of liquid can wreck a compressor.

If the compressor is OK then either something is plugged or it has too much or too little R134A.

It is usual, when compressor is changed , prior to installation of compressor, the system should be purged with nitrogen gas in order to clean the oil accumulation inside the tubes. Once compressor is hooked up with system, the refrigerant from the cylinder should be purged prior to charge it through suction side. Run the compressor and open refrigerant to the suction and monitor the current taken and stop charging when the current reaches to the rating amps of the compressor. simultaneously check the suction pressure, (R134A is more or less equals to R12 gas ) if it is around 30 to 35psi, the compressor will work properly.
Charging 3.75 o.z of refrigerant may not be adequate and cannot measured correctly too.
