How do you think the importance of these relationships developed? What spiritual purpose do you think they serve for indigenous peoples?

Nature is a constant, reality is a constant, that constant IS beyond us, but since it influences all equal, its importance would come out in our constructs, religion being a big one. Also fundamentally we can not be separated from nature, ooooo we love to think we are, makes us feel all special and pride, but the fact is we are a product of nature. BUT we are powerful in our ability to make our own meanings to GLOBAL, or UNIVERSAL happens, hence have wonderful religions..... but its important to understand its all in reaction to the same shared phenomena....

Should read Carl Jung, he did a great deal of research in this area.....

When I was in school a couple of the guys would chant, "What is the meaning of life? Huh!" as they banged a book into their foreheads. (more staged than real pain)
I think pagan religion is much like this.
