I was going to shadow a good family friend at his engineering office, as I am very interested in going into that field. I was just wondering what exactly the dress code is.

As to size, it's a fairly small office.

It's definitely in-office work. No outside/ field work.

We're a bunch of dorks and fashionably challanged. As long as your pocket protector is in straight, you'll be fine. LOL! The previous postings suggested khakis and a button-down collar shirt. That sounds about right. Good luck.

I would suggest a good pair of khaki trousers and a nice shirt. Depending on the location and if he does any field work you might want to include a good pair of boots. If you intend to go into this field, you should at least look like you belong there now.

I'd suggest a long sleeve button down shirt and khakis... Engineering firms in my experience tend towards "dress casual"...

I would go with Khakis and a button-down shirt. Put on a tie, you can always remove it if your friend is dressed more casually.

The best thing is to ask him/her what you should wear. You don't want to be overdressed, but you don't want to be too casual either. It's probably casual, such as khakis and polo, but to be sure, just ask, or if you know him well enough you probably have observed what he wears to the office. Good luck
