I honestly think that they simply have not read the Old Testament properly.
I have read both the Bible and the Koran. To be fair, they both make some good points on how to live your life. Sadly, both are also full off vile hatred of women, foreigners, people of other faiths and homosexuals. The dark far outweighs the light. If only more could see.

The Bible records some violence yes. But the conquering of the Canaanites where God orders the children of Israel to destroy a horrible and wicked bunch of total reprobates living in the land he God had promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob can in no way compare to the blanket order to exterminate or oppress any and all people who don't agree with your religion. No compsarison what so ever .

Actually, it's the Old Testament that has violence very similar to the Qur'anic violence.
However, the Qur'an is much more dominated by violence, as a percentage of text. Typically, this violence is directed at: non-believers, misbelievers, disbelievers and, especially, ex-believers (who Muhammad demands should be killed).
A recurring phrase (and it's variants) I've noticed in the Qur'an is "We bring you glad tidings of grievous woe!". LOL. That one cracks me up every time.
No, really, the Qur'an obsesses over believers vs non-believers: it's truly unrelenting. If you were to remove those parts from the Qur'an, there wouldn't be much left.
:-)

That's a really excellent question. As a Christian, I shouldn't be making any judgements on the Quran unless I have thoroughly read and understand it. The only place that might be an exception is if there is something that would be directly contradictory, but even then both should understand the full context.

Hello beautiful. I just came by to thank you for not generalizing. I send warm hugs, hot chocolate and giant-sized cookies your way.
The only passage in the Bible I would say I "obsess" over is
I John 3:16.

I guess it is the same reason *some* Muslims focus on the violent passages of the Quran.

Christians accept the teachings of Jesus in the new testament. That's why they are not called Jews, who accept only the the old testament. SOME aspects of the old testament are followed by Christians (ten commandments), but none of those things intended solely for the Jews of the old testament.
If people would inform themselves regarding basic things, they would avoid looking silly.

Because the things that happened in the Bible were in the past and not recommended for today .As for the Koran, the violence against the "Infedel" is still recommended for today.Lucky for us ,only a few million of them have the balls to carry that violence out. Our "Quiet as a mouse" American Muslims ,who say neither Yay or Nay, would quietly like to see us go down. But they don't have the huevos to do it themselves.I have a co- worker who told me in the early 90s that they show them(Muslims) shows like Jerry Springer et al and say this is why we need to conquer them. It is a long ,slow, process if we don't get wise .....well? Thanks for the heads up Walid.

Because they never studied the Bible,or, like in Protestant Churches, don't use all the books of the Bible in the scriptures (I think they are called the Forbidden books) and therefore would never have heard of these passages until they came on here.

My Bible never promised me fleshly things. Things we are supposed to keep ourselves pure of. My Bible does not teach me to kill anyone who does not believe in Christ. I am not the one strapping on a bomb to blow up many people as I can with the promise of virgins and perfume. Violence in thre Bible? Wait. Jesus Christ was the lamb of god. When he comes back, he is the lion. That's who I'm with.
