This sounds like an abscess that has burst open. Try putting some gentle antispetic on it or bathing it with salty water. If it looks nasty with pus take kitty to the vet for antibiotics.

Yeah, a hole in the head should be taken seriously. Also, I recently read that someone saw someone walking a dog with a large wound on it's back and reported it. The dog was taken off them and they were charged with animal cruelty for not taking the dog to the vet!

Go to the vet!! A "hole" that doesn't heal (even if it stops bleeding) is a serious problem! I've had too many cats die of feline leukemia because I thought wounds would heal up on their own. Nope!...then when one of my cat's shoulder bones was sticking out, it wouldn't let us catch it...it walked around for months like that...very saddening and horrifying...

yes, you should be worried and you should arrange to have a vet check out your cat asap. when cats fight (or play) they use their claws, and dirt, germs etc under the claw may be left under the skin of the other cat (or animal) the hole MAY heal on its own, however, an infection can start and abcess under the wound. i had this happen to my cat a while back and he got a huge knot on his head, when the vet tried to clean it to get a better look, it burst and he had to do surgery. the vet bill was over $300.00......it's best to get it looked at sooner than later.....the longer you wait, the more the infection can spread. good luck....ML in FL

I'm not sure what a heas is, I'm assuming 'ear?". If the bleeding won't stop you need to get it checked. If it did stop, make sure to wash it with water and a bit of hydrogen peroxide to kill bacteria.

If you mean 'skull' you need a vet to check if the bone was damaged.

What is the matter with you? Of COURSE he should go to the vet!! And stop wasting time on the computer; get him there tonight! Call the emergency vet if your regular vet is not available, but stop screwing around. It is his RIGHT by law to receive proper medical care and to deny it is abuse.

Yeah, because if that hole isn't closed somehow, who knows what kind of disease or virus could get in there.. If the wrong thing gets in that hole, your cat could die.
