To answer your question about Kodak being a good camera, yes I believe so. I have had a Kodak Easy Share for the past several years and it was great, even survived several falls, a couple onto hard pavement. I have taken thousands of pics with it, nothing that will be published in a magazine, but good enough for the average user, and some good enough to blow up and frame. I liked that mine could run on regular AA if I got in a pinch, because my Kodak rechargeable battery went dead. I always try to carry some AA rechargeables.
To be honest, I am looking for something better/faster, but then again, the ones out now are making mine look like a dinosaur. I would buy Kodak again.

The Kodak should do fine.

Just do one thing after you buy it - READ & STUDY the Owner's Manual before trying to use it. The Owner's Manual isn't packed in the box as filler material - its in there for you to READ & STUDY so you can learn to use your camera. Plus it gives you something to do while the batteries charge.
