i am all for men getting equal responsibilities for babycare and childcare, i myself is currently studing to do early education and childcare, i'd be interested to know why men dont advertise for babywipes and suchlike. Babycare should not be a women only thing, even though there are many single mothers who have to do it themselves, i feel sorry for them having to brings children up alone, having a child takes two people.

i think its because the company want to target mothers as their a re more single mothers than fathers, thus they get a better response from their aimed market segment

Because no matter how open minded we think we are, advertisements are still very sexually biased, and not only in the baby ads. Look at all the kids' toys commercials - there's no middle ground between boy and girl toys. My son wanted kitchen stuff when he was 4 or 5 and I had a hard time finding something that wasn't pink.

However, the main reason is probably that the mothers make the majority of the purchasing decisions, regardless of how much the father contributes to the actual baby care.

Simple years and years of tradition. Tradition dictates it is the mother the women the gentler sex that cares for newborns and babies. So advertising is geared to follow those traditions. It doesn't mean men don't do their fair share i spent many hours walking the floor following a feeding and burping. Or bathing and and rocking to sleep. I totally enjoyed helping my wife care for my kids it was something to look forward to as i got to see the changes they went thought as they grew up. To many men let mom do all the work and then one day they suddenly find out their child isn't a child anymore and wonder what happened where they were when everything was going on.

I must agree that it is somewhat one sided, however women predominately make the purchasing decision on these items and the point of the advertisments is to sell as much product as possible therefore targeting the majority group.
However I ask why do mums not get to perv on a well cut tanned shirtless guy when making these decisions as with advertisments aimed at male buyers for cars and alcohol ect ect with the well tanned well toned female clad in bikkini. I would vote for that!!!

first of all its a baby commerciak not a man commercial. Also they give people what they expect to see and stereotypically, women take more care of babies than men, though thats not always the case. also they're the ones who give birth and are just more nice to the kids basicly. Thats the same reason why they have they are favored more in custody terms.

I think its really to do with stereotypes, people automatically see the female of the species to do the womanley jobs (raise kids),And that is maybe why you never see men on the tv in the baby adverts, now it would be nice to see this change as i hate just seeing the women as men play the role as dad so they should be shown as well.

I have a one year old son and I've seen men featured in baby books, catalogues, magazines etc. It just seems to be the TV ads that don't feature dads changing nappies.

Which is unfair, my partner does change our son's nappies and bathe him etc sometimes, not as often as I do but he does do it! But thats because he's working two jobs at the moment and I'm the fulltime mum.

Because the facts rule - my husband has probably changed 1 diaper for every 10 (maybe even 20 diapers) I have changed. He's a great husband and father but I do the majority of work when it comes to raising and taking care of our daughter.

Majority rules I guess, probably the same reason women arnt used to sell cars/beer etc unless featuring as some scantily clad beauty draped over said car beer!
